Elite Tauren Chieftain in BRD

"Power of the Horde" is the debut song by Elite Tauren Chieftain, originally released with Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne on July 1, 2003, where it is featured during the expansion's credits. It can also be played during any game of Warcraft III by entering the cheat code "TenthLevelTaurenChieftain". The song repeatedly appears in World of Warcraft as part of the band's in-game concerts.

The song "appears" on Elite Tauren Chieftain's fictional 2003 album, also titled Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. A BlizzCon 2005 announcement[citation needed]  jokingly asserts the song as a "multimillion-selling" single, and the fictional album it derived from as best remembered for the "popular little computer game" that was included with it as a bonus feature, while these "facts" were quite the opposite in reality (the song itself included as a bonus to the highly popular expansion to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos).

"Power of the Horde" was adapted from one of the band's previously existing songs called "The Serpent and the Slave". Since there was not enough time to write entirely new music in time for the release of The Frozen Throne, Samwise Didier simply took the song's lyrics and altered them to be Warcraft-themed.[1][2]

Lyrics[]

"Power of the Horde"

Storm, Earth and Fire, heed my call!

I am the son of the wind and rain,
Thunder beckons and I heed the call.
If I die upon this day,
In battle I will fall.

Hear me brothers gather up the wolves, <howl>
To battle, we will ride.
War drums echo the beating heart,
Pounding from inside.

Chorus:
STORM
Black clouds fill the sky.
EARTH
I hear my battle cry.
FIRE
Thunder we'll bring forth...
DEATH
From the power of the Horde...

Far Seer to the Warsong Clan,
To no man will I kneel.
Feel the power and the energy,
Born of black blood, honor, and steel.

I feel the fire burning in my veins,
Lightning strikes at my command.
By storm and earth, axe and fire,
We come to claim this land.

Chorus

-guitar solo-

Yeeeeaaaahhhh!

Surrounded by the enemy,
The wolf among the hounds.
Thunder turns to silence it,
Took the hundred to bring me down.

Wolf brothers falling at my side,
With honor I will die.
Upon the Altar of the Storms,
I will be reborn.

Chorus

STORM
EARTH
FIRE
DEATH <death sound>
The power of the Horde...

In-game availability[]

"Power of the Horde" can be heard in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne's ending credits, or by playing it in the Warcraft III World Editor's sound manager, where can be found as "PH1.mp3," or by entering "TenthLevelTaurenChieftain" in the chat box, enabling a cheat which plays the song. This cheat can be used in both Warcraft III's Reign of Chaos mode and The Frozen Throne mode, but will only play in the former mode if the expansion set has been installed.

With patch 2.1.2, the song was included in World of Warcraft, as well. It can be heard in the game by entering "/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Music\\ZoneMusic\\DMF_L70ETC01.mp3")" (pre-patch 8.2.0) or "/script PlaySoundFile(53438)" (post-patch 8.2.0) in the chat box. The filename "DMF_L70ETC01.mp3" was the first indication of the band's name change, from "Level 60" to "Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain", keeping their Tauren Chieftain up to date as the highest level obtainable in The Burning Crusade; the prefix "DMF" refers to the Darkmoon Faire, the band's new location near Shattrath City. Since then, they have updated their name up for newer levels up until 2014 when they decided to keep it as Elite Tauren Chieftain.

If you have Inv gizmo goblingtonkcontroller [Direbrew's Remote], you can take it to the Grim Guzzler, talk to the roadies on the lower level to bring the band in for a "Practice Session" to hear the song. It also plays nightly at 8pm server time.
