  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.5 (2023-01-24): Now a level 10 Arms ability (was a row 6 Arms talent).
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 6 Arms talent (was a level 22 Arms ability). Duration increased to 15 seconds (was 12).
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Now an active ability that makes all single-target abilities strike an additional target for 12 seconds. Now baseline for Arms at level 22 (was a level 15 Arms talent).
    Old: Mortal Strike and Execute hit a second nearby target.
  • Legion Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Makes Ability warrior savageblow [Mortal Strike] and Inv sword 48 [Execute] hit 2 additional nearby targets (was 1).
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned into a passive level 15 talent. Now causes Mortal Strike and Execute to hit a second nearby target.
    Old: Your melee attacks strike an additional nearby opponent for 50% damage. Lasts 10 sec. Using this ability in Defensive Stance activates Battle Stance.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Now requires Battle Stance.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2014-01-21): Resolved an issue for the following abilities that resulted in damage being calculated incorrectly when used against targets with a greater than 75% reduction to damage from armor.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.3.0 (2013-05-21): Sweeping Strikes' damage to secondary targets should no longer be affected by Resilience or PvP Power if the primary target was a player as both had already been factored in for the initial damage calculation.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Can now be used in any stance. Cooldown reduced from 1 minute to 10 seconds.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Mechanics changed.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Hotfix (2009-12-17): Sweeping Strikes will now only trigger once per whirlwind rotation of Bladestorm.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.3.0 (2009-12-08): Corrected inaccurate information in combat log tooltip.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Spell shadow deathpact [Death Wish] and Sweeping Strikes have swapped locations in their respective talent trees.
  • Bc icon Patch 2.4.2 (2008-05-13): This ability can no longer hit critters as its secondary targets and will now use a proper range calculation for all secondary targets.
  • Bc icon Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13):
    • Sweeping Strikes and Spell shadow deathpact [Death Wish] have swapped locations in the talent trees.
    • Sweeping Strikes now lasts 10 seconds and affects your next 10 swings.
    • This ability now works correctly in all cases with shielded targets.
    Before the patch, the number of swings was 5.
  • Bc icon Patch 2.1.0 (2007-05-22): This ability will no longer be modified erroneously on additional targets by percent modifiers to your damage.
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13): Sweeping Strikes will now ignore dead targets, and will ignore PvP enabled targets if you are not PvP enabled.
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): Sweeping Strikes bug fixed. It will hit more reliably and show up in combat log correctly.
