So, how'd he die? Normal 02:47, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Probably killed by Dark Iron Dwarfs as for the Blak Citadel Blademaster Maim i can't really tell ....maybe blizz forgot about him —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Marakanis (talk · contr).

Cause of death[]

Bumping this discussion. Is it directly stated anywhere that Maim was killed by the Dark Irons? Because H [60] Eitrigg's Wisdom just says that "[The Blackrocks] managed to displace the dwarves in the upper portions of the city, but only after the dragons came and only after the death of Maim", which is fairly vague. I'm asking because, a while ago, I saw a post on Scrolls of Lore complaining about this very Wowpedia page and how it says that Maim was killed by the Dark Irons even though, according to the SoL poster at least, that's not stated anywhere. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 19:48, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Hehee...... --Mordecay (talk) 20:12, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
I'm sad at how the Scrolls of Lore guys don't help us out directly ;_; Xporc (talk) 20:15, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, there was that one time with File:Orgrimmar Grunts full.jpg, which at the time was used as the infobox image for the orc article. A SoL poster noted how ugly it was and didn't understand why that image would be used instead of any of the other, higher-quality orc art available (for what it's worth, I agree that that TCG art isn't that great-looking, but it does showcase orcish sexual dimorphism, which can be helpful). Another poster urged them to change it if they disliked it so much. Some time later, there was a minor edit war with a Wowpedia user trying to overwrite the Orgrimmar Grunts image with a copy of File:WolfRider.jpg. Sometime after I and DarkTZeratul reverted the Grunts image to its original state, the aforementioned poster mentioned on SoL that he had tried to replace the orc infobox image, but that it had just been reverted. I ended up putting File:Katoka Dreadblade.jpg as the new infobox image instead. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 21:06, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Or once a user pointed out that Aedelyn Blackmoore wasn't a general of Lordaeron. --Mordecay (talk) 21:24, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
Back on topic, while it technically doesn't directly say that Maim was killed by the dark irons, it is very strongly implied. In essence, it's saying that Maim's death was something that happened while trying to drive off the dark irons... Which means either he died fighting them, or he randomly fell off a bridge in an unrelated incident that just happened to take place during the time they were fighting. To me, the meaning seems clear. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:14, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
While that's definitely true, I think that in this case we shouldn't state things more definitively than the source information itself does. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 09:46, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
The RPG seems to state it more directly, and while it's technically non-canon, I feel like that lends weight to what Eitrigg is somewhat less directly saying. At this point, it feels like the other reason not to say Maim was killed battling the Dark Irons is for the sake of pedantry. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 10:15, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Yep, Eitrigg's words are vague. Maim may have fallen into lava. --Mordecay (talk) 10:36, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
I went ahead and updated the page with Chronicle information, and when describing his death I just used wording as close to that of Eitrigg's as possible. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 11:00, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
