20% discount[]

When do u get 20& discount? --Shandris 14:36, 3 October 2006 (EDT)

If you have both Honored reputation with the faction and are PvP rank 3 (Sergeant) or higher. The two 10% discounts listed stack. --Flick 12:41, 4 October 2006 (EDT)
This seems inconsistent. The table shows a 20% discount for flying mounts (available in The Burning Crusade) but then states at the bottom of the article that PVP Rankings will not grant you 10% discount in Burning Crusade anymore. Which is it?
I just checked this on the live servers. If you had the 10% PVP discount before Patch 2.0.1, you still have the 10% discount. The 10% Honored discount is still separate and achievable.--Prain 01:31, 13 December 2006 (EST)

Update needed?[]

With the release of the 2.0.1 patch to the live servers, it seems that the 10% + 10% price reduction has been made a 20% Honored reputation reduction. Could someone in the Burning Crusade beta verify what the current cost is for purchasing the Expert and Artisan riding skills? --Prain 01:04, 13 December 2006 (EST)

I can confirm that as of right now (01.08.2007) having Honored with or without having a previous status of PvP Rank 3 grants only a 10% discount. Thus the current page is correct. Kershner 02:31, 8 January 2007 (EST)

as of 2.0.3 the mount cost will be changed again. User:CrazyJack/Sig 04:38, 8 January 2007 (EST)

No discount anymore ?[]

Dekatar: I think that there are no price reduction any more because pvp discount was removed with 2.0.3 and Wildhammer Clan ,which were need for the next 10% price reduction (at honored), was also removed from the game... Can anyone confirm that ? 13.01.07 15:34 GTM+1

Apprentice to Expert[]

Is it possible to skip Journeyman Riding and buy Expert straightaway? I don't have an epic mount and the idea of a flying mount seems much nicer to me than a slightly faster riding one. So I hope I can just spend 800g on riding, not 1400... --D'nara 11:34, 18 January 2007 (EST)

Nope, you must learn all ranks, same as a profession. User:Kirkburn/Sig 12:26, 18 January 2007 (EST)
Brilliant. I better start saving then... --D'nara 11:41, 19 January 2007 (EST)

locations[]

what are the locations of the artisan and expert riding instructors for each faction? User:CrazyJack/Sig 08:10, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Getting skill by other means[]

Why not add that paladins and warlocks receive the 75 and 150 skills when they do their respective mount quests, also adding that druid receive the 225 skill when he learns Flight Form?--Avanmilton 10:03, 24 January 2007 (EST)

speed improvements[]

riding crop works on land mounts, but does it work on the flying ones? i wonder. User:CrazyJack/Sig 06:36, 3 February 2007 (EST)

It works on Flying Mounts too, but does not stack with Spell holy crusaderaura [Crusader Aura]. Flight Form is not affected by EITHER of them, because Patch 2.1.0 will have a Trinket that increase Flight Form and Swift Flight Form speed equal to that of the Riding Crop. --Maxisfreak315 08:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Druid riding skill[]

Just a note that Druids have to buy their riding skill in order to get flight form. Edited content of page to correct that information.

apprentice riding (level to learn)[]

As of the new patch, you do not learn apprentice riding at level 30. I just checked with my level 11 warrior and it is still level 40. I will revert it back to that.Kmbell81 (talk) 08:06, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

It's not patch 2.4.3 yet. g0urra[T҂C] 08:11, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Since the patch has not yet been implemented we still learn riding at level 40, let's not change that until the patch has actually been put in place just to avoid confusion.Kmbell81 (talk) 08:16, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
So you can suddenly decide what info from the PTR to add and not? I believe you can't read what the text says, and especially the patch 2.4.3 part. g0urra[T҂C] 08:20, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I think information of the PTR shouldn't be added in Wowwiki unless in Patch_2.4.3, Patch_2.4.3 and Test_Realm, and clearly related pages. Hans Kamp (talk) 08:28, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I agree with the revert, because patch 2.4.3 is near future. I only also agree with the undo of the revert (re-add the extra information) if the text is written in future tense ("will reduce") instead of past tense ("reduced"). Hans Kamp (talk) 08:28, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Near future isn't now though. Patch 2.4.3 has not yet occured and the changes have not occured either.Kmbell81 (talk) 08:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Note that I changed all past tense of the change to that it will happen in the future, just to make it clear. Whoever added those changes did not think of that. g0urra[T҂C] 08:49, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I put in a final suggestion for a way to do it currently. Please take a look. I think I may have found a way to both reflect the current situation and the upcoming change.Kmbell81 (talk) 09:17, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Replaced references to level 40 with 30 and left a small notation indicating the date of the patch.Kmbell81 (talk) 18:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Warlock Riding Skill[]

It's a bit misleading and doesn't touch base on the quest available to warlocks, like how the paladin section does. The quest does give Journeyman Riding -> http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7631  ♥sunsmoon talk & cont  08:33, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Death Knights[]

How does a DK learn to ride a flying mount? I didn't see any trainers in Ebon Hold. Alicanc (talk) 21:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

The same way everyone else does: purchase the riding skill in Shadowmoon Valley or Dalaran. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk)
Dalaran? Nice! I didn't see it in any of the lists. Sadly, I can't add it since I don't really understand how you categorize this stuff. Alicanc (talk) 22:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Cataclysm Riding[]

Any info on how riding skills will be handled in Cataclysm? Do they stay the same or is the system being revamped along with everything else?--Zertanis (talk) 03:28, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Related comment, but as of 4.0.1 going live Master Riding Skill (310% speed) is available, and for those who have a 310% mount already, it's free. I logged in and already had it learned on my characters with a Violet proto-drake.Lamhirh (talk) 06:50, October 13, 2010 (UTC)
This is now worked into the article, though a bit more cleanup is needed to manage residue from pre-4.0.1. ddcorkum (talk) 03:37, October 15, 2010 (UTC)
Great work Ddcorkum! I can confirm that Master Riding was offered to me today by Maigra Keenfeather in Valiance Keep at the exalted discounted price of 4000G listed in the table. I am exalted with the Valiance Expedition. I would have liked to update the skill levels section of this article to add a bullet for master riding. But I don't have all the information about all the places listed in the similar bullets for the other riding skills and don't have the time or a horde character to check them all out. I can only hope others can add to this so we can get that section updated for the master riding skill for patch 4.0.1. --ItsBrent (talk) 23:03, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
I noticed that a user recently made a change to the patch notes at the bottom, changing "The Violet Proto Drake is now the only way to get 310% for free" to "The Violet Proto Drake no longer gives 310%". Do you know something I don't? Or perhaps do we know something you don't? Blizard announced late last week that they would continue to give 310 for free from the this one drake. Unless Bliz has done a 180 today, I believe this the previous version of the article is more accurate. ddcorkum (talk) 23:44, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Please help[]

Warlocks: "At level 40 they can complete a quest to learn their Dreadsteed summon and get Journeyman riding skill (and a Feat of Strength)."

The Ability mount dreadsteed [Dreadsteed] article has a bunch of level 60 quests on it. Could somebody clarify? I seriously want a Feat of Strength if at all possible, but I'd also like the faster speed and all the Wiki's doing is contradicting itself on me :( A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 12:23, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Given the quests require access to a level 60 instance (the lowest level for is 45 from memory) it's safe to said its level 60 still. Icedwhite (talk) 21:22, August 20, 2010 (UTC)
I've fixed it. The quests require level 60, but you can train the mount directly at level 40. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:31, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Total Costs for Riding Skill Incorrect[]

All the costs are correct, but the total costs for Friendly, Honored, and Revered are incorrect. The correct totals should be:
Friendly: 12,876g, 30s
Honored: 12,198g, 60s
Revered: 11,520g, 90s
