- Not to be confused with Uldir.
Uldis[32, 65] is a subzone of the Storm Peaks located far below the Temple of Storms, but still high on the mountain. The entrance is an aperture that's partially telescoped open, enough to easily fly a gryphon into, halfway up the mountain on the south side, located just north of Bor's Breath and southeast of Valkyrion. The interior is filled with titan machinery, resembling a giant engine room.
During the the war against the Lich King, it was also the location of the Heart of the Storm, guarded by Overseer Narvir, until adventurers were sent by Bouldercrag the Rockshaper to take it, before the iron dwarves could use it for the construction of the Iron Colossus.[1]
Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard visited Uldis. According to Muradin Bronzebeard, there are other apertures about the Storm Peaks like this. While the purpose of the machinery remained unclear even to Brann and Magni, they had a merry argument about it.[2]
Notes and trivia[]
- It bears great similarity to Loken's Bargain[56, 58] in the Storm Peaks. It seems also similar to the Engine of the Makers, in a smaller and less weather-beaten form. It is possible that it, like the Engine of the Makers, is a part of the Forge of Wills.
- Uldis shares the same prefix of "Uld" as Ulduar, Uldaman, Uldir, Uldum, Uldaz, and Uldorus.
- Uldis is a Latvian male name.
