Hakkar the Soulflayer[]

Hi, Encaitar, you made an edit to the Hakkar the Soulflayer page that asked Why Didn't you repair the link first? To answer your question simply: there was no link to repair at the time that I made that edit. This morning I left a post on the former Zin'rokh (L85) talk page asking if the name should be changed. After seeing your Hakkar edit I looked and saw that someone has now done that. Thanks for fixing the link that broke when that happened. I definitely still have a lot to learn about editing pages, but this particular issue was not my mistake. Eincrou (talk) 19:31, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Malfurion Stormrage[]

As much as he's neutral in terms of gameplay, he is the official half of the Darnassus government, which is a member of the Alliance and in direct conflict with the Horde. He may not wear blue and gold and march alongside the 7th Legion, but he stands right next to Tyrande and rules Darnassus with equal power. Furthermore he was the one that thought the worgen would be a good contribution to the Alliance. Saving the nation of Gilneas from the onslaught of the Forsaken (and the forces of Orgrimmar that arrived afterwards) is a direct intervention in the war that he is responsible for. The fact that he's also spearheading the defense of Hyjal doesn't mean he's passive while his people are being killed, and Ashenvale is being continually deforested (and its heart corrupted) by the Horde. The Horde has their hand even far north as Darkshore, allying with the Shatterspear with the only purpose of further damaging the night elves while they recover from the Shattering and the loss of Auberdine. Not only is Darkshore a place where he is directly involved in (and his name is red to the Horde players), it is also dangerously close to the capital of his people, and the place he and his wife reside. His name appearing yellow to Horde players in some zones or the fact that he doesn't do anything while a player-led "For the Horde!" raid kicks his beloved's teeth in doesn't mean that this night elf hero also joins the neutrality bandwagon.

If this is about him not giving direct orders to engage the Horde in game, then you'd be correct. But neither does Hamuul, Mekkatorque or many others on the Horde/Alliance commander list. The night elves are deprived of enough without having their greatest hero and prophet be listed as yet another neutral party, whereas lore and common sense has dictated that he is not. He is the co-leader of an Alliance city, intervenes in a Horde attack and brings an entire new nation (Gilneas) into the Alliance, that ends it.

PS: However, the Horde is also missing High Overlord Varok Saurfang, if you wished to add that. He's still in Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra I believe. He may not participate in the war directly either, but he is a commander of the Horde. Whether or not he directly engages in battle is irrelevant, his loyalties lie true.

First of all sign your post. Second of all it's the Alliance-Horde War in Cataclsym therefore is only listing the commanders that take part in it. If you go to Darnassus as a Horde Malfurion doesn't even engage in combat. He's part of Cenarion Circle more than he's a part of the Alliance.IconSmall BloodElf2 Male Encaitar (DiscussionDeeds) 17:45, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Apologies for not signing.

With that said though, you're basing EVERYTHING on the fact that he's not attacking Horde when they enter Darnassus, while ignoring every single thing I said.

I'm not fond of Knaak either, but what he's written has quite clearly become canon, do you think I like how that idiot has made Tyrande look like a dramatic school girl that blushes, cries and whines at the simplest things?

The relations between the Cenarion and the night elves as a whole are also a lot closer then what might think. Cenarius' children are listed as Alliance combatants, and I think anyone with a drop of knowledge on the lore would be able to tell that they would be on the side of the Silverwing in Ashenvale, as are the ancients. And you're wrong, in Darkshore Horde players see Malfurion as red just as they do in Darnassus, but completely uninteractable. And Hyjal is a different case, he starts neutral with everyone. Game colors however aren't really a good case for determining someone's faction allegiance.

I'll not continue adding Malfurion, because we've made some progress. Somebody had Thrall listed as a Horde commander, which... If he is listed as one, then I'll continue bringing Malfurion up. However, you may want to check again. Hamuul remains a Horde commander, he's just under Cairne Bloodhoof's name. The only difference between him and Malfurion is that unlike Malfurion's, Hamuul's second model is actually red to the Alliance. Other then that, both are not too interested in politics, and they both partake in the defense of Hyjal. If Hamuul stays, Malfurion will be listed for the Alliance.

He may be the leader of the Circle, but you may want to re-read Darnassus. Look who its leaders are. And check Malfurion's affiliations. Rather odd for a so-called "neutral" Cenarion Circle leader to take his place right next to an Alliance leader which happens to be his wife, even if he doesn't lift a finger to defend her in the game.

Saying that he's not a commander because he's not actively partaking in the war however is a valid point, at least if that same treatment will apply to other so-called "commanders", which means the list must be re-defined.

Many people are not taking part in the war while those under their command are. Mekkatorque is:

1) Not directly engaged.

2) Has people under him fighting.

3) Is a city leader.

Malfurion is:

1) Not directly engaged.

2) Has people under him fighting. (He commands the Cenarion AND Darnassian druids, both are nearly interchangable, mind you)

3) Is a city leader (Check both him AND Darnassus)

4) Brings a whole new nation into the Alliance.

If that isn't revised, then I will continue to list Malfurion, plain and simple. You've not given me anything compelling to hold onto. Game play mechanics have no place in lore debates. If reactions to city raids are considered better outlets for lore than written books, then Tyrande's been killed numerous times, since that's the only time he would really be "unfriendly" to Horde anyway. Once they've entered a near impenetrable city as Darnassus, killed scores of Sentinels and face down his wife in the Temple of Elune while she wears her robes.User:Thebardinblack

Mate now please don't to the text wall in my page. I can understand your point, but just as Liadrin, Hamuul Runetotem and many other commanders he should not be listed. He is a leader of Cenarion Cricle, who are neutral. It's same as if you said that Tirion should we listed as Death Knights commander because he saved their lives etc. Malfurion as each druid tries to preserve life that's why he wished to save the Worgen. But that's about it. And no Thrall is not listed as Horde commander either. IconSmall BloodElf2 Male Encaitar (DiscussionDeeds) 20:29, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

I apologize Encaitar, if it means anything, feel free to delete what I wrote, didn't mean to spam the page. I'll take Hamuul out then, but also leave Malfurion out. Once again, I'm sorry for the wall of text. I'd still argue that Tirion or Darion Mograine are not in the same case as Malfurion, but I don't want to continue it on your page, I'll respectfully bow out from it here. User:Thebardinblack

It's not a problem mate I'm just saying that I understand your arguments, but since he's considered the Faction Leader of Neutral organization, he can't be listed as Alliance Commander. That would make this organization an Alliance sub faction:P And regarding Hamuul he's not in so it's not a problem. About the text it's ok, just don't be so detailed, cause I know the lore behind Malfurion but just like Thrall who is not listed and many others he's above this silly war I guess.
