  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-03-28): Fixed an issue causing Divine Purpose to sometimes be incorrectly consumed by an Spell holy aspiration [Afterimage] trigger.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7 (2023-03-21):
    • No longer interacts with Spell paladin executionsentence [Execution Sentence] as Execution Sentence no longer costs Holy Power.
    • Proc chance reduced to 10% (was 15%) and bonus damage reduced to 10% for Retribution Paladin only (was 15%).
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-12-15): Fixed an issue that prevented Divine Purpose from being gained from Inv sword 2h artifactashbringerfire d 02 [Radiant Decree] casts.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 8 class talent (was a level 40 talent).
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now available to all specializations at level 40 (was a level 75 Holy and level 100 Retribution talent). Redesigned – Holy Power abilities have a 15% chance to make your next Holy Power ability free and deal 20% increased damage and healing.
    Previous effects:
    Holy: Light of Dawn and Holy Shock have a 15% chance to not start their cooldown, and make their next cast free.
    Retribution: Your Holy Power spending abilities have a 20% chance to make your next Holy Power spending ability free.

  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1.0 (2018-12-11): Retribution: Fixed a bug that prevented consecutive Divine Purpose procs. To compensate, Divine Purpose damage and healing increased reduced to 20% (was 30%).
  • Battle for Azeroth Hotfix (2018-08-10): Increases damage and healing by 20% when engaged in PvP combat with enemy players (was 30%).
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned as a level 75 Holy and level 100 Retribution talent (was level 75 for all paladins). Holy: Light of Dawn and Holy Shock have a 15% chance to not start their cooldown, and make their next cast free. Retribution: Your Holy Power spending abilities have a 20% chance to make your next Holy Power spending ability free.
    Old: Abilities that cost Holy Power have a 20% chance to cause the Divine Purpose effect. Your next Holy Power ability will consume no Holy Power and cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2013-03-27): Fixed an issue where Word of Glory or Eternal Flame did not work when both Divine Purpose and Tier-15 Protection Paladin 2-piece set bonus was present.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2013-03-15): Divine Purpose should no longer activate from unsuccessful attempts to cast Inquisition.
  • Mists of Pandaria Hotfix (2012-09-12): Divine Purpose should only have one chance to activate once per finisher (which must land on at least one target).
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now a level 75 talent for all specializations (was a tier 4 Retribution talent) and triggers from all abilities that cost Holy Power instead of a selection of abilities. Proc chance increased from 7% to 20%.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): The chance for applicable abilities to generate Holy Power has been reduced to 7/15%, down from 20/40%, but instead of generating 1 Holy Power, the next applicable ability used consumes no Holy Power and acts as if the paladin has 3 Holy Power.
    Functionality implemented from previous version of Hand of Light.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): Now also affects Spell paladin hammerofwrath [Hammer of Wrath].
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Redesigned. The following attacks have a 7/15% chance to cause your next Holy Power ability to consume no Holy Power and to cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed: Judgement, Exorcism, Templar's Verdict, Divine Storm, Inquisition, Holy Wrath, Hammer of Wrath. Moved from tier 6 to tier 4.
    Old: Reduces your chance to be hit by spells and ranged attacks by 2/4% and gives your Hand of Freedom spell a 50/100% chance to remove any Stun effects on the target.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): Moved to Improved Retribution Aura's position (was tier 7).
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.3 (2008-11-04): Rank 1 of this ability will now correctly determine its chance of remove stun.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Now reduces chance to be hit by spells and ranged attacks by 1/2/3%.
