Imps are small, cackling demons[2] that possess powers and a cleverness that serve warlocks well despite their lack of physical strength.[3] The simplest of the summoning spells a would-be warlock can learn is that of the imp. Before they are imparted to this, they must prove that they have the necessary magical and physical ability.[4] All imps are afraid of rainbows.[5]
Background
There isn't much information about the imps' history but the forest spirits known as grell do resemble them.

- Imps might have been grell infused with, and mutated by, fel energy. Grell resemble imps[6] and the ones on Teldrassil are tainted by fel moss[7] while the grell in Darkshore possess the same [Foul Ichor] that demons known as satyrs possess.
- Imps also bear a resemblance to homunculi, demons[8] that can be created/constructed.[9] Imps might be constructed homunculi, not truly living things.[10]
Fel Imps
Fel imps, though very similar to normal imps, are a more powerful demon. Although normal imps have fel energy, they are not fel imps, which are more common in the Twisting Nether and in Outland.
