Kingslayer Orkus is an orc found around Hillsbrad Foothills, with his loyal frost wyrm Kasha.
Overview[]
Orkus first appears during 
[7-30] Welcome to the Machine, eager to dominate the Alliance in the region (assuming there is "no chance" of harm to him). He later reappears south of the Ruins of Southshore, having attacked Vanndar Stormpike and Balinda Stonehearth after overhearing talk of a meeting at Purgation Isle with one Ivar Bloodfang. Vanndar hurls him into the ocean.
The player finds him on the verge of drowning, though reminds a horrified Orkus that the water is relatively shallow. He quickly composes himself and makes his way back to the shore, where Kasha's own wounds are treated. Orkus, Kasha and the player fly over to Purgation, and fight their way to Vanndar, Balinda and Ivar. Noticing Alliance battle plans, Orkus devises a strategy - killing the Stormpike battlemaster and holding off the trio of enemies, long enough for the player to escape with the plans atop Kasha.
Despite his somewhat cowardly earlier attitude, Orkus charges the trio alone in an attempt to buy the player time, and is defeated - though Kasha returns for him, and flies to Tarren Mill.
Orkus dies during the flight, and asks the player to find somewhere cold for Kasha to live. High Warlord Cromush receives the battle plans, and honors Orkus as a hero of the Horde.
His sacrifice would ultimately pave the way to the destruction of the Stormpike clan in Hillsbrad.
After his death, he can be seen as a ghost riding his loyal frostwyrm around Tarren Mill.

- Hillsbrad has changed. Back in my day Hillsbrad was a place of constant battle. The humans and dwarves of Southshore would constantly attack the Horde at Tarren Mill. There were days when you could look out past the intersection at Darrow Hill and see a thousand people battling. Glory days, <name> - they'll pass you by.

- <name>, just between you and me, I never saw the fall of the Lich King. And... well... I've never been to Ulduar. I... well... I am a dungeon explorer. Yes. I prefer exploring dungeons with allies. The pay is excellent and the risk is low.
- Varian Wrynn... I saw him fight once at Dire Maul. He killed five feral scar yetis with his bare hands. Pretty good for a human, no?
- Did I ever tell you about the time I met Varok Saurfang? I asked him to sign my massive pectoral muscles. He backhanded me instead, which is why I sometimes forget things now. It was totally worth it.
Trivia[]
- Based on the "Welcome to the Machine" quest, Orkus appears to be Blizzard's mocking representation of player characters who have completed all end-game content and are now mindlessly doing low-level content or harassing low-level opposition player characters out of boredom. He could also represent those who utilize leveling services or who purchase accounts from experienced players leaving the game. The evidence for this is that Orkus admits toward the end of the questline that he has never even been inside Icecrown Citadel, let alone confronted The Lich King. As his armor can only be gained from running the Icecrown Citadel raid in heroic mode, plus the "Kingslayer" title can only be won by defeating the Lich King, then this would indicate someone else besides the current account owner would have to have done it. Orkus' incompetence also demonstrates that he may really be an inexperienced player who is in low-level areas trying to learn how to play the game.
- Orkus' calling himself a "dungeon explorer" is a reference to the practice of high-level characters running lower-level ones through instances so that those characters can complete quests and/or get gear without the hassles or competition of a normal dungeon group. One example is a level-85 character running a level-15 character through The Deadmines or Ragefire Chasm; the mobs present absolutely no threat to the high-level character, while the low-level one gets the gear that drops off the bosses or mobs.
- Orkus' line regarding the Tarren Mill and Southshore war is a throwback to vanilla Warcraft, where massive scale battles would commonly be experienced around the two towns, now often recalled with fond nostalgia - the "glory days" he references. This largely ended once Blizzard added the battleground system to the game.
- Orkus mentions that he once had an exciting encounter with the famed Varok Saurfang, and asked him to sign his muscles. Varok backhanded him instead, the force of which apparently results in memory loss from time to time.
- He also appears to be a big fan of Garrosh Hellscream. His question regarding him, "great Warchief or greatest Warchief?", is a reference to fake TV pundit Stephen Colbert, who often asked guests the same of US President George W. Bush.
