The Abandoned Reef is a large reef to the southwest of L'ghorek in the Abyssal Depths. The reef's appearance is much like that of a reef that has died, white coral with very little life present. Only a rare spirit beast crab, Ghostcrawler and a few crab hatchlings are the only wild life found here.

- Although a mostly empty subzone, herbs and mining nodes still spawn here.

- It seems to be a leftover from the beta of Cataclysm, perhaps developers planned Abyssal Depths to be of a certain size but ended up never needing this subzone at the "end" of the zone. Its name is quite fitting.
- It's possible that what the Old God is doing to L'ghorek is affecting the area. Even Deepfin Ridge, in the area closest to L'ghorek, appears to be dead.
