For the worgen racial, see Spell shadow antishadow [Aberration]. For the mob found in Blackwing Descent, see Aberration (mob).
Aberration

Aberrations describe a wide range of creatures. Many are related to the Void or the Old Gods, but not all. Previously, many of these were uncategorized, while others like voidwalkers were commonly categorized as demons.

While aberration is often used to describe a few specific races with similar characteristics, it does not mean that they are related or share any traits.

In World of Warcraft[]

WoW Icon update This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

The aberration category was added in Patch 5.1. Primarily uncategorized creatures were retroactively changed to aberrations, but has since become the primary category of voidwalkers and similar creatures.

Besides various consistent categories (See below), aberrations include many unique creatures, such as Durumu and Il'gynoth.

Creatures named aberrations in the game are not always categorized as such, and more often than not are actually other types of creatures like undead or elemental, such as Mindless Aberration and Arcane Aberration.

Characteristics[]

List of known aberrations[]

In the RPG[]

Icon-RPG This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

An aberration has a bizarre anatomy, strange abilities, an alien mindset, or any combination of the three. They all eat, breathe and sleep.[4] Aberrations can also be either ghostly, skeletal or withered.[5]

Forgotten ones, nerubians, nerubian spiderlords, silithid and spiderling swarms are all aberrations.[6]

Notes[]

Patch changes[]

  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.1.0 (2012-11-27): Aberration is now used as a classification, alongside others like Humanoid, Beast, Undead, etc.
