Arcane Shot is a level 10 Marksmanship hunter ability deals damage equal to 130% of weapon damage and generates focus.

Notes

• Arcane Shot deals Arcane damage which bypasses armor, but can be partially resisted.
• Though it deals magic damage, Arcane Shot is not considered a spell and gains no benefit from spell power.

Tips and tactics

• Arcane Shot can be very powerful in PvP. This is an oft-overlooked fact because Arcane Shot deals Arcane damage, which bypasses the heavy armor of warriors, paladins and death knights.

Trivia

• Arcane Shot is a basic hunter spell in Hearthstone. The flavor text reads: "Magi conjured arcane arrows to sell to hunters, until hunters learned just enough magic to do it themselves. The resulting loss of jobs sent Stormwind into a minor recession."

Patches and hotfixes

• Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Now damages for 200% of weapon damage (was 130%).
  
• Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Changed from a base ability to a level 10 Marksmanship ability. No longer cost focus but generates it instead. Damage increased by 4%.
  
• Patch 6.1.0 (2015-02-24): Tooltip updated to match hotfix change.
  
• Hotfix (2014-10-17): Damage increased by 15%.
  
• Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): No longer available to Marksmanship hunters.

  Additionally, now deals 110% ranged weapon damage (down from 125%).
  

• Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): Now deals 125% ranged weapon damage (up from 100%) and had its focus cost increased by 50%.
  
• Hotfix (2013-06-10): Arcane Shot now deals 10% more damage.
  
• Patch 4.3.2 (2012-01-31): [Lock and Load] no longer benefits Arcane Shot, nor is it consumed by Arcane Shot.

• Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13): The tooltips for quick Hunter shots have been updated to show them as instant abilities.
  
• Patch 1.5.0 (2005-06-07): Special ability shots no longer add the ranged weapon speed or take into account ranged weapon haste when determining the actual cooldown. The tooltip and cooldown timers should now properly reflect the actual cooldown.
