The Blackwater Raiders is a group of pirates, thieves and warriors[2] operating in Booty Bay and closely affiliated with the Steamwheedle Cartel. They are led by Baron Revilgaz.[3]

Faldir's Cove, as it is called, is a small area located in the Arathi Highlands which was also held by the Blackwater Raiders. Though little more than a docked ship and a tent, this small port was home to a few crew members of the pirate organization. In Battle for Azeroth the cove was held by the Alliance presumably after the Blackwater Raiders had left.

Customs

They are considered good men, respectable as pirates go.[4]

It is an important Blackwater rule to only kill when necessary. As such, there's no love between the Raiders and the Bloodsails.[5]

Members

Members of the Blackwater Raiders should also have the title <Blackwater Raiders>.

In the RPG

The RPG Icon 16x36.png This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

Headed by Baron Revilgaz, the Blackwater Raiders are a loose affiliation of pirates, privateers, and traders that operate out of Booty Bay. They are closely tied to the goblin Steamwheedle Cartel and handle most of their trade. The Blackwater Raiders are arch-rivals of the Bloodsail Buccaneers, another pirate group that vies for control of Stranglethorn Vale. They have sometimes been known to attack villages, which have been forced to defend themselves to protect the settlement.[6] They also control Edj on Kezan.

Despite the fact that they are pirates, the Blackwater Raiders are not really that much of bad guys. They are less interested in plunder and more interested in securing mercantile deals and widening the circle of ports with which they can trade. The Trade Coalition has little influence over Revilgaz, and indeed the Raiders attempt to go under, above, or around the coalition's head.[7]

Notes and trivia

  • Baron Revilgaz calls the Blackwater Raiders a goblin cartel.[8]
  • They are possibly a reference to the real-life private military organization Xe Services LLC (formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide).
  • Blackwater Raiders (US RP server) is named after them.
