Brightwood[1] is an area in kingdom of Stormwind, located between Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Stranglethorn Vale and Deadwing Pass. It is inhabited by humans.

History

It's hinted that Brightwood was originally a troll area as King Wrynn pushed the orcs all the way to Stranglethorn Vale where they were contained for years. Roughly 20 years before the coming of the Horde, the trolls invaded several human settlements. After the death of their warlord by the hand of Medivh, Prince Llane and Captain Anduin, the trolls regrouped and invaded Brightwood again, this time clashing with the Stormwind army that camped at the northern end of the area and forcing the humans to return home. The trolls then attacked Stormwind City where they were ultimately destroyed by the Guardian.[2]

Two decades later, the area's settlements would be assaulted by the invading orcs, burning the village of Grand Hamlet.[3]
