Role of category

What is exactly the meaning of this category? I feel like nothing really makes much sense anymore. Like all the Scarlet Enclave subzones being called "undisplayed locations" even though they are displayed as subzones in the death knight starting zone :/ Xporc (talk) 18:46, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

About the Scarlet Enclave, even though they are displayed in the Enclave, they are not in the overworld so they enter in the category. --Ryon21 (talk) 19:42, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
I get the idea, but it's like tagging Thrall as a lore character because he doesn't appear in Orgrimmar anymore :/ He still appears elsewhere than his original spot Xporc (talk) 21:50, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
I think there should be a better name for this category. "Undisplayed locations" can be confusing. This is more for zones that can't be visited in the open world environment like how most of the Seat of the Triumvirate dungeon can be visited in the open world zone of Mac'Aree except the part where you enter the Seat of the Triumvirate (the actual building). — Surafbrov T / C / P 22:06, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
I think that if a location is displayed at some point, then it shouldn't be in this category.--SWM2448 23:09, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
This whole category is starting to feel a bit redundant with Category:Lore locations. -- DarkTZeratul (talk) 23:20, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
Yea, I can see that being the case. — Surafbrov T / C / P 03:28, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Any ideas to make this better? If not a category, then a page were every location is correctly appointed? Like...

  • Displayed locations but undisplayed in the overworld (then a list)
  • Undisplayed locations with lore
  • Undisplayed locations without any lore
  • Instanced locations like arenas or battlegrounds, lorewise in a zone but nowhere to be seen in the overworld

And what name we could have for all this? --Ryon21 (talk) 23:40, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

The way I see it:

  • Displayed locations but undisplayed in the overworld (then a list) - This category
  • Undisplayed locations with lore - Lore locations
  • Undisplayed locations without any lore - Do not exist
  • Instanced locations like arenas or battlegrounds, lorewise in a zone but nowhere to be seen in the overworld - We note these already, it is very rare that they are not true subzones, and when they are not, no one cares

Exactly this. It's just that currently 1 and 4 are merged, since unique instances do fit the definition of "displayed locations but undisplayed in the overworld". And this allows one to visit the Vale of Eternal Blossoms page, and see Kotmogu listed in the subregions of the Vale, because it is one, just not as a proper subzone. Otherwise, that information is not available anywhere. Kotmogu is part of the Vale, so it's in the subregions section of the Vale. -- MyMindWontQuiet 12:12, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
Maybe/probably relevant instances that are not already subzones (not that anyone would check) could be added to the navbox in their own row, but that is not the same a river that is there but without a proper name on the map UI.--SWM2448 18:53, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

I've taken out the Ruins of Gilneas and Eastern Plaguelands locations of this category since they are displayed in their proper instanced zones, but still, they should be in the zone templates as they are undisplayed in the overworld. Now, those locations that do not have any lore. I don't know what "lore" do they need to be considered in this category so I'll put the list here and you tell me. --Ryon21 (talk) 18:11, 19 September 2018 (UTC)
