Deadmines: Pet Edition[1] is the second pet-battle scenario that involves one player going back to the Deadmines to investigate a disturbance.

Lore

After the second defeat of the Defias Brotherhood, the mines fell silent for some time. It wasn't until word reached Breanni that activity was heard in the mines. The gnome decides to send an adventurer to meet with a fiend of hers, Marcus "Bagman" Brown.

Finding Marcus at Moonbrook, the adventurer asks what's going on. At first, Marcus is aggressive but calms down once the adventurer mentions Breanni. Marcus tells the adventurer that rumors about movements in the mines. To not draw attention, Marcus puts the adventurer in the cart and takes inside the Deadmines.

Arriving at the Goblin Foundry, the adventurer makes his way to the bottom of the forge. There he finds the remains of Foe Reaper 5000, who after falling for the first time and being reconstructed by the Burning Legion a second time, has been brought back to the mines. Someone has scraped him for parts and was able to construct the Junk Reaper 500.

After the adventurer destroys the machine, he makes his way through the tunnel ahead. However, not all is quiet. Along the way, he finds the remains of a Defias member. His ghost now hunts the mines and the adventurer needs to put him to rest before progressing further. Another threat comes in the form of an Angry Geode. This elemental has come to life and the adventurer needs to take care of it.

The final obstacle before reaching the juggernaught, is a Mining Monkey. The animal stayed behind after he was freed when other adventurers stormed the Deadmines.

With the monkey beaten, the adventurer enters the cove, only to find the cannons still active. At the entry point of the juggernaught is "Captain" Klutz, who won't let anyone pass. Apparently, Klutz is the last oaf that remains within the deadmines and due to his loneliness, he had befriended the local pets to keep him company.

After taking out the hobgoblin, the adventurer deals with his pets; Klutz's Battle Rat, Klutz's Battle Monkey and Klutz's Battle Bird. When the cannons have been silenced for good, the adventurer makes his way to the top of the juggernaught. There he finds a shadowy orc figure. She mentions that the other shadowy figure at the Wailing Caverns was her lover and that if the adventurer touched even one hair on his head, the orc would have taken the adventurer out. After giving the warning, the orc takes out a vial and drops a sample of the contents on the floor. She makes her escape off the ship and leaves behind Cookie's Leftovers. After defeating the aberration, the adventurer makes his way out of the mines and reveals his finding to Marcus.
