Durnholde Syndrome, named after Durnholde Keep, is a strange phenomenon[1] which causes slaves and captives to grow an affinity for their captors after being locked up for too long.[2] This causes them to resist being freed from captivity, claiming that they love working for their captors and that they wouldn't know what to do in the outside world.[1] The term "Durnholde Syndrome" was coined by by the Forsaken chief psylosopher Nils Beerot.[2]

- The Durnholde Syndrome is a reference to the real world's Stockholm syndrome, a condition that causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity. Nils Beerot is a reference to Nils Bejerot, the Swedish psychiatrist and criminologist who coined the term.
