Revision as of 13:25, 19 July 2018

Forums: Village pump → 7.3.5

How are we going to be handling the leveling for the Infoboxes? Like 1-60 for original zones, 60-80 for TBC and Wotlk, and 80-90 for Cata and Mists of Pandaria? Or try to keep the original level of the NPC/Mob?

I guess it'll depend on how the WoW database will evolve? If the WoW database, readable through wowhead, lose all level-related information, we'll have a hard time to figure out the original level of quests and NPCs ... Xporc (talk) 12:51, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Plus there's also eventual Classic servers to consider... Xporc (talk) 15:55, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Within 3-5 years is my guess for those. Though since the events of Cataclysm, many zones were torn and changed up with new levels so... I've noticed overtime that we are still missing some mobs/NPCs like I found one that's been in the game since MoP launched but never created a page on Wowpedia and we are already at legion. I've also noticed some articles from Vanilla missing. Since the introduction to this scaling zones, which I think is going to be fantastic (because leveling alts can be a bore) but it scares me that the fact some articles are missing that could make the original impossible to know. I think it'd be best to change them to a level range. It's what I am guessing unless Wowhead does something with the data it has on the levels. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 16:11, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Yeah lots of old stuff still missing unfortunately. Just gotta truck on, and hopefully we'll get it all in time, if not in time for scalings, then perhaps at least before the next cataclysm! :) PeterWind (talk) 17:59, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Patch changes

Start adding it to mobs, yay or nay? Mordecay (talk) 13:10, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

Frankly, I'd rather avoid it and leave things as they are. About 75% of the content on the wiki is now outdated in term of levels (for quests, zones and mobs) and ilevels (for items) anyway Xporc (talk) 13:15, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Personally I'd prefer not adding it for the same reason I think we shouldn't add mention of the stat squish in the Patch changes section of every single item and NPC article. It's such an (almost) global, all-encompassing change that pointing it out on each and every individual article seems superfluous to me. If one knows that Northrend now scales from 60-80, I don't think one really needs to be repeatedly informed of that fact every time one looks up Niffelem Frost Giant or Graymist Hunter. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 22:11, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
This. Also for the same reason we shouldn't (IMO) have a "patch 6.0.2: updated player model" note for each mob or character from the main races. Xporc (talk) 22:13, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
