Patch 9.0.1 is almost here and with it we will see the level squish where current levels 1-120 will be "squished" to 1-50. Wowpedia has literally hundreds of pages with level requirements on, e.g. quest levels, zone levels, level requirements for certain items, etc. All of these pages will instantly become out of date when 9.0.1 drops. So I am interested in what Wowpedia's approach will be to this mammoth task of changing so many pages? For example, is there a bot which is going to go through and correct all these automatically? Or is there a way to flag that the level requirements are out of date, such as in a banner? Are we going to add 9.0.1 to "patch changes" section on every single page it will have affected? Also, there are going to be quite a lot of edge cases which need further investigation. For example, Peak of Serenity is currently accessible to characters below level 100, but destroyed for characters above level 100. This is stated in the article. I'm not clear on whether this requirement will directly translate to the squished level (i.e. level 100 -> level 40) or whether it will just mean that the Peak of Serenity will be accessible if your current Timewalking Campaign is set as earlier than Legion. These kinds of things will need investigation. Are these matters being discussed somewhere? I had a look through the Wowpedia projects but didn't spot anything relevant. - A solution is being worked on, but pages going out of date is unavoidable. Seeing as the level squish affects the majority of both NPCs and mobs in the game, the scope of the change is quite massive. We'll get there, but it'll take some time. PeterWind (talk) 00:55, 10 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks PeterWind. Can you share any details on what the solution is and/or who is working on it? I guess what I really want to know is, for contributors such as myself, if we notice information that is incorrect, should we correct it, or will it be corrected automatically by a central solution (bot etc)? - Surafbrov and Dark T Zeratul are the ones doing most of the work on this. it’s still a work in progress with some details that need ironing out (e.g. how best to deal with mobs that don’t quite fit their zone’s standard scaling range, how we want to show alternate level ranges such as Classic levels), but suraf is running a bot to implement the template as groundwork. he mentioned he is checking each edit and making notes of things that need to be re-implemented later (like those classic levels), but i’d still not bother with manually changing levels. better to wait until the botting work is done and we’re in the “refining/making corrections” stage of things Eithris (talk) 14:52, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

- Hi User:Surafbrov, thanks for your reply. I am a bit confused what I'm looking at here, what does it mean for a zone to have been "checked" on this list? For example, I picked one arbitrarily, Bloodmyst Isle, when looking at the revision history the page has not been modified since May 2020. It still shows the level range as 10-60. What does it mean to say this has been "processed" by the bot? Also, are we only modifying zone pages for now and not other pages like abilities, items etc? It would maybe help to know the username of your bot so I could check the contribution log. I looked under username "Surafbrovbot" of course, but no such user exists. As I mentioned above I feel like we may need a project to coordinate all this work, as there is such a lot of stuff that needs fixing, and not clear on when we can and can't contribute.
