Gamescom (stylized as gamescom) is the world's largest gaming event and Europe's biggest trade fair for video games, held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. It is used by many video game developers to exhibit their upcoming games, including Blizzard Entertainment present nearly every year.

2020[]

Gamescom Opening Night Live took place on August 27, 2020 and streamed the first episode of Afterlives and announced the initial release date of Shadowlands for October 26/27.[2][3]

2019[]

Blizzard announced on April 30, 2019, that they were not attending gamescom 2019.[4] On August 14, 2019, the Blizzard Shop was announced to be at gamescom to premier a new Mei statue from the Overwatch universe and a new Blizzard Legends collectible statue featuring Malthael from the Diablo franchise.[5]

2018[]

Gamescom 2018 was held on August 21-25. Blizzard announced on May 15, 2018 that they would be attending once again.[6]

2017[]

Gamescom 2017 was held on August 22-26. With over 350,000 attendees, attendees were able to run through the new dungeon Seat of the Triumvirate that was introduced in patch 7.3. The World of Warcraft European Championship Finals took place at the World of Warcraft stage with a share of $100,000 and a chance to compete in the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Finals at BlizzCon 2017. A live Darkmoon Faire was present at the Blizzard booth during the event including activities like an airbrush makeup station and photo opportunities with iconic World of Warcraft statues and items.

Gamescom 2013 was held on August 21-25. On August 24, a costume contest took place with the first winner getting an award for a paid trip to BlizzCon 2013 and the second winner winning an Alienware 14 gaming laptop worth about €1,700. On August 25, a dance contest took place.
