Area(s)

The jalgar were a fierce race of bear-men who once dwelled in the northern reaches of ancient Kalimdor. They were the mortal enemy of the Dragonflayer clan of vrykul, but when the Dragonflayers learned to befriend and ride the savage proto-dragons, the jalgar were driven south into Kalimdor's lush central forests. There, they eventually evolved into the furbolgs.[1]

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Brann Bronzebeard's research said that Ursoc created the furbolgs.[2] Chronicle Volume 1 explained that furbolg descend from the jalgar. Thus Ursoc may have either created the jalgar, or turned them into furbolg.
  • Earlier in development, drogbar resembled bear creatures.[3] They may have originally been jalgar.
