Maul is a level 10 Guardian druid Bear form attack. It is a rage dump, an attack designed to be used "when you have more Rage than you can spend."


Maul is not affected by the global cooldown.

Patches and hotfixes

  • Legion Patch 7.2.5 (2017-06-13): Maul damage increased by 650%, cost increased to 45 Rage (was 20). Maul is now on the global cooldown, and has no self-cooldown (was 3 seconds). Maul damage not increased in PvP.
  • Legion Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Now deals 400% damage in PvP (was 100%).
  • Legion Hotfix (2016-08-16): "Maul damage increased by 23%."
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): No longer deals additional damage to bleeding targets. Damage increased by 12.5%.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14):
    • Now available only to Guardian Druids.
    • Now costs 20 Rage (down from 30 Rage).
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): Base damage has been raised to 35, up from 8. Attack power scaling has been decreased to 19%, down from 26.4%.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now scales from 24% of Attack Power, down from 30%.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): No longer a next-attack ability. Rage cost increased from 15 to 30.
  • Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Maul ranks changed base damage. Threat modifier also was changed.
  • The Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.3 (2007-01-09): Maul has had its threat bonus multiplier changed to a flat value similar in threat per time to [Heroic Strike].
Threat generation was changed from a 1.75 damage multiplier to a static +threat component
  • PTR client.png Patch 0.7 (2004-06-15): Rage cost reduced if Maul fails.
