Mezzamere is the base of the Waveblade Ankoan in Nazjatar, sitting on a rise in the Hanging Reef. The camp was established by the ankoan when they moved into the region to make war on Queen Azshara's naga forces after they killed the Waveblade leader. Mezzamere is centered around a cluster of ancient kaldorei ruins. Since the waters around Nazjatar were parted during the Nazjatar Campaign, Mezzamere and the surrounding area have become dry land, and now accommodate a large Alliance presence, new allies of the ankoan.
History[]
When the naga killed their leader as part of a long-standing conflict, the Waveblade Ankoan resigned themselves to death or vengeance by invading their enemies' bastion.[1] Mezzamere was founded as the base of operations for the Waveblade as they took their war against Queen Azshara into Nazjatar.
Despite their determination, the ankoan remained hopelessly outmatched until the arrival of the Alliance and the Horde. To trap these latest newcomers, Azshara pulled the sea itself from the region, and in so doing exposed Mezzamere and the Waveblade to the surface for the first time.
The ankoan would become particularly impressed by the stranded Alliance force as it battled desperately against the naga. When Blademaster Okani approached Jaina Proudmoore and Genn Greymane with an offer to work together, they accepted. Okani would then lead them back to the Waveblade stronghold.[2] Before long, Mezzamere would become the center of the Alliance's efforts in Nazjatar against Queen Azshara and other foes.
