Affects
"Shadow magic at work is a wonder to behold ... entrancing even." —Tessa Black[1]

Nightfall is a passive Talent for Affliction warlocks, available at level 15. It gives [Corruption] a chance to make [Shadow Bolt] instant cast and deal increased damage.

Patches and hotfixes

  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Reintroduced and redesigned.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Removed.
  • Hotfix (2014-12-15): "Nightfall should no longer fail to trigger if the most recent target of Corruption dies."
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Nightfall's effects have been merged into baseline Corruption for Affliction warlocks and now has a 6% chance to trigger (down from 10%).
Level reduced to 10 (down from 54).
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): Now gives Corruption a 10% increased chance to generate a Soul Shard on the most recently applied Corruption.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Redesigned. Gives your Corruption spell a 5% chance to cause you to regain a Soul Shard.
  • Hotfix (2011-02-18): "Instant-cast Shadowbolts from Shadow Trance (both the talent and  [Glyph of Corruption] versions) should no longer consume charges of [Backdraft] if both procs are available. Shadow Trance will always take priority and be consumed first when Backdraft is active. Subsequent Shadowbolts will consume Backdraft stacks."
  • Hotfix (2011-01-18): While Nightfall is active, Doomguards will not instantly cast [Doom Bolt].
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now a Tier 5 talent, up from Tier 4.
  • The Burning Crusade Patch 2.2.0 (2007-09-25): This ability can now trigger while the Warlock is sitting.
  • The Burning Crusade Patch 2.0.3 (2007-01-09): When a Warlock is under the effects of [Backlash] and Nightfall, only one of the effects will be consumed by a Shadow Bolt cast.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): Fixed a bug where the Shadow Trance effect was lost without benefit. Previously, the talent had a 3%/4% chance of triggering. It now has a 2%/4% chance of triggering, and the tooltips have been updated to accurately reflect this change. The Shadow Trance buff granted by the Nightfall talent will no longer be used up by a [Shadow Bolt] that was in mid-cast.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Added.
