The Overgrowth.

The Overgrowth is a lush jungle located southeast of Hunter's Hill in the Southern Barrens and is home to several creatures, including plant life, that have been changed or mutated by the Emerald Nightmare.

Bramblescar, home of the Razormane quilboar tribe, was swallowed by the Overgrowth. On the outskirts there is Teegan's Expedition, where Corporal Teegan leads a contingent from Northwatch Hold.

History

The Overgrowth was regrown thanks to the efforts of the night elven druid Naralex. However it was invaded by the Emerald Nightmare through the Nightmare Scar at the center of the forest. Naralex and his tauren disciple Muyoh, found in the Overgrown Camp, asked Adventurers to help them seal off the Nightmare corruption.

At some point after the Alliance attack on Camp Taurajo, its refugees built Camp Una'fe at the edge of the jungle, but the forest had since grown beyond it.

Once the rift into the Nightmare was sealed, Naralex believed the balance of nature would take hold here once again.

Nightmare Scar Digsite

The Overgrowth dig site.

A portion of the Overgrowth region is filled with broken ground, and is a night elven archaeology dig site.

Notes

  • The forest contains night elven ruins where Naralex feels a great tragedy occurred at. They were added in Cataclysm.
