New inhabitants after the Cataclysm.

Purgation Isle is an island south of the shores of Hillsbrad Foothills, in a shape of a towering spiral. It contains a cemetery and a ruined scout tower. It was also a renowned place to farm money, before patch 2.0, due to the fact that the mobs may drop up to 30 silver each.

Background

Prior to the First War, Purgation Isle was the territory of either Dalaran or Kul Tiras.[1]

World of Warcraft

WoW Icon update.png This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

The island has a mysterious, unknown history. It is haunted by ghosts of renegade paladins, monks, mages and priests that for some reason are condemned and cannot find peace in death. It seems that Kormok is the cause of the isles ghosts as it is said that he delighted in summoning forth the souls of the banished dead. Before patch 1.10, the mobs on the Isle were only level 20-30. After that the mobs were replaced with 57+ elites, and became part of the Tier 0.5 armor quest.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

Since the Cataclysm, the ghosts of the Isle appear to have disappeared and the land has been claimed by members of the Stormpike clan working together with the Bloodfang pack. It should be noted that, though the mobs are Alliance-friendly, no quests or resources exist here for that faction.

Purgation Isle is present as part of the Escape from Durnholde Keep Caverns of Time instance. When viewed with a map viewer, the island appears 'new' and looks like it's been updated. However, when in the actual instance, the island is not accessible due to an invisible wall.

Mobs

Removed from game The subject of this section has been removed from World of Warcraft in patch 4.0.3a.

Notes

  • Bloodcurse Isle has the exact same terrain as Purgation Isle, but with different props and colors.
