Serpent wards (also known as serpent totems[1] and searing totems)[2] are totems used primarily by trolls to deal damage.
The Darkspear tribe used them during the Attack on Theramore Isle,[3] as well as during the events of Battlefield: Barrens.
In Warcraft III[]

In The Frozen Throne, serpent wards are mainly employed by troll Shadow Hunters.

In World of Warcraft[]
- The Totem of Tikti uses the early serpent ward model, yet it is unknown if it actually is a serpent ward.
Mists of Pandaria[]
- During the Dagger in the Dark scenario, Vol'jin summons serpent wards to aid him and the adventurers accompanying him.
- Serpent wards were deployed during the world event Battlefield: Barrens.
- Although this world event happened after Patch 5.1.0 – where the serpent ward model was updated – the ones seen in the Northern Barrens used the old model.
Legion[]
- Shaman characters have access to the [Vol'jin's Serpent Totem] toy, summoning a scaled down version of Vol'jin's serpent ward that attacks critters for 1 minute. It is sold by Flamesmith Lanying located at the Heart of Azeroth or by Elementalist Sharvak found at the Throne of the Elements in Nagrand.
Battle for Azeroth[]
- Serpent Wards can be summoned by enemies in the Battle for Stromgarde.
In the RPG[]
The murloc Ogloop of the Wide Grin tribe uses serpent wards in fights.[4] The ghostly, red snakes of the magical totems release fireballs.[5]
