This article is an information page for the Cenarion Circle realm (server)

The contents herein are entirely player made and in no way represent official World of Warcraft history or occurrences which are accurate for all realms. The information and events listed are of an independent nature and applied for roleplaying, fictional, speculative, or opinions from a limited playerbase only.

Cenarion Circle US (RP) is named after the Cenarion Circle, a druid organization composed of Night Elves and Tauren. The realm opened with the launch of World of Warcraft on November 23rd, 2004 and is a Pacific time zone (UTC-8) realm. Like the other members of Battlegroup US Whirlwind, the servers for Cenarion Circle are physically located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA (originally Seattle, Washington; moved on 8/17/2010). (See US realm list by datacenter.)

General Information

Cenarion Circle is an RP server that went live upon World of Warcraft's release in November, 2004. It is one of the five RP servers and forty servers all told that went live upon the game's release; the other original RP servers are Argent Dawn, Earthen Ring, Feathermoon, and Silver Hand.

Community

Cenarion Circle has a medium population. In old times it was possible to encounter a queue to log in during peak hours, but now the only time a player is likely to experience that is during an expansion's release. As a result of age, many players have come to Cenarion Circle due to friends on the server. Thanks to this, the roleplaying atmosphere is very lax and some of the realm's players have little to no interest in roleplaying. That said, there is roleplaying focused activity in certain areas, such as the Blue Recluse tavern in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind, and some roleplay events take place during the week or throughout the year, often held be large, older roleplaying guilds.

Another consequence of the population size and lax rules is that global channels - most notably capital city Trade - are often abused as catch-all places of discussion, most commonly looking for group and guild recruitment, but quite frequently for jokes and other off-topic behavior.

There are some benefits to the server's size, however: Cenarion Circle has a cozy, close-knit feel and it's easy to gain a reputation and forge friendships.

Economy

The server economy is robust, with prices for high demand items tending toward the higher end - especially end level items. Demand for items of all level is generally healthy, especially on the Alliance side.

Roleplaying

Since the beginning of the server's creation, the roleplaying community has shrunk as has the raiding scene, though the server continues to progress competitively in both PvE and PvP. There are still a viable number of roleplayers active on the server, but activity tends to be not as "in your face" as on other dedicated roleplaying servers. This can make it difficult for new roleplayers to locate the RP community unless they already know where to look (see the global channels listed below).

Roleplaying primarily is organised around multi-guild weekly events and in some global channels (HordeOOC, Hearthstone, AllianceOOC, HearthstoneIC). The Cenarion Circle roleplaying community also maintain their own website at http://cenarioncircle.org (commonly referenced amongst themselves as "the dotOrg") with an events calendar, character profiles, and forums.
