Just an oddity. Banshee have ears that go backward like night elves, while they are supposed to originate from high elves, which have ears that point upward like the upcoming Blood Elves. CJ 10:09, 13 Dec 2005 (EST)

Interesting observation. Probably just an insignificant coincidence. However, to make sense of it, I'd say its due to the ectoplasmic distortion of their ghost-like forms. --Anticrash 10:17, 13 Dec 2005 (EST)
LOL... ummm, was that supposed to be funny? I think CrazyJack has an ear fetish. ;-)

The Original Model of Banshee is that of WarcraftIII. If you go and look at the official site, its stated: as "Banshees were once beautiful female Night Elves who were brutally murdered by demons during the fall of Kalimdor. Their restless spirits were left to wander the world for many ages in silent, tortured lamentation. Over the years they became jealous of the living and seeded a deep hatred for all life. Yet when the Lich King, Ner'zhul, became aware of them, he gathered them together and promised them vengeance upon the living. Ner'zhul gave them terrible voices so that the living would finally hear their timeless anguish. Thus, the Banshees have pledged themselves to the Undead cause and serve as valuable warriors in the Scourge. The spectral Banshees can fly and are fond of hammering their enemies with tortured blasts of sonic force. Their unnerving, unholy screams can be heard from miles away." That's the explaination of their ears. But Banshees of Lordaeron are High Elves, just like their Queen Sylvanas (in truth Sylvanas too has night elven ears). User:N'Nanz

And night elven everything, best way to show a fairly well preserved high elven corpse i supposeScorpx2 00:57, 25 May 2007 (UTC)scorpx2

And now, many years later, Legion will be updating the Banshee model with rounded human ears for some curious reason. Myrthuil (talk) 04:16, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

I must say I always had my doubt about Blind Mary being an elf to begin with. PeterWind (talk) 07:05, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

Losing Original Form?

The banshee in Icecrown Lady Nightswood seems to be able to leave the ones she possesed at will to possess new ones.--Gurluas (talk) 14:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

While they could not in Warcraft III? In Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, the ones under Sylvanas leave the abominations they possess when they are done with them (Around the time of Sylvanas' Farewell). It may be a new ability retconned in. Though, I have always thought that the Undercity Guardians were blue because they were the same ones from that scene possessed.--SWM2448 22:06, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, possible...seems like a retcon to me.--Gurluas (talk) 14:47, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Non-Elven Banshees

Sean Copeland says it's possible for Non-Elves to become banshees. https://twitter.com/1990Sanji/status/323489113204477952 --SuperN (talk) 20:35, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
