DM = Dire Maul

No DiM is Dire Maul. Deadmins was here before Dire Maul --Dotted 07:55, 17 July 2006 (EDT)
Hate to break it to you, but both instances were release at the same time. Dire Maul has been DM since Opening Day, just as Deadmines has been VC.

VC = Deadmines

You are right, The Deadmines were here before Dire Maul, but there are so many more people asking for a group for Dire Maul than Deadmines, as all level 60's know.

At least on my server we use DM/DiM --Dotted 14:35, 1 November 2006 (EST)

Usually when you mean Dire Maul you also say West North or East (I almost wrote south xP). And the Deadmines are often named DMs, because it's 'the DeadmineS'. But I don't know what VC means. Van Cleef?

Edit: ok, it's written there...--Frosti 10:07, 6 April 2007 (EDT)

On Staghelm on the Horde side it's VC for Deadmines and DM for Dire Maul. Not so much anymore, but I kind of suspect it goes that way because high level Horde characters are more likely to be looking for a group for DM than low levels for VC. --Azaram 06:28, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Secret Place

I dont understand how to get to this "secret place", and why would you be suspended for exploring? That makes no sense. Mr.X8 22:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I edited that part out because it made no sense and could've even been fixed by a patch. The editor that created the section was a bit new. But, if someone can add more information (patch number, if it even exists) please enter it back. That would be something very interesting to see. --Altairx1 00:08, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I dunno about the secret place either of you are talking about, but what some people call 'exploring', Blizzard calls 'exploiting', and you can be suspended for it. Some of the places you can but should not get to can cause server problems, apparently.. --Azaram 02:32, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

They meant the place you can get to by wall climbing in the cavern with the ship and going threw the roof walking to the edge jumping and using some slow effect then running around the edge to get to a place some people call old outlands because it looks a bit lick outlands from wc3 tft if you look in mapviwer you can see the place --Vrall 06:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Blizzard calls anything that isn't regular an "exploit" these days.

Real definition of an exploit in MMO terms (my opinion; this may or may not be true): "A method of using glitches or other imperfections in the game to gain an advantage over other players."
Blizzard's definition of an exploit: "Anything that players find 'cool' or 'unusual' about something when we didn't intentionally put that feature into the game for that reason."
Examples of the real definition: Duplicating items that you can only get one of (like a quest reward), somehow managing to move through an impassable terrain feature (a wall, a gate, etc.)
Examples of Blizzard's definition: Taming the Grimtotem Spirit Wolf (took that out because it wasn't put in to be tamed, and it's "too Undead for Hunters (bull$#!&)), the "secret place" that this article used to mention

Felindre

Title

Quick question. When we have an item from the game that has the word "the" in it we include it as part of the title of the article, for example The Twin Blades of Azzinoth. Why aren't we doing that with The Deadmines and any other similiar instances? The name of the instance is The Deadmines everywhere I read about it and not Deadmines. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 02:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Well it was called The Deadmines in the past, but I have seen it called just Deadmines lately like in the strategy guide. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 11:56, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Rumor

I have heard about this Rumon with a LvL 80 DM Heroic, i havent seen it my self. Can any one Conferm this? TerrorBlades (talk) 09:16, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

I would say rumor. I heard about it a year ago myself when I was just starting. If I remember it was because Thottbot has a "Heroic Deadmines" entry on it. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 10:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
No, it's true. They confirmed it in the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm preview video at Blizzcon. Sedurut (talk) 16:59, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Appropriate to flag that it is upcoming; not appropriate to flag as already existing. :) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:51, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Argh!

How the catnip do you find your way through the maze? I grew up Horde, and all the times I've done the heroic version I've been ported there, so I don't know how to find the and dollar at star pound entrance... spent the last 15 minutes going in circles in the maze below the Defias Hideout... --Azaram (talk) 10:16, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
