Um... what's this about it being on the PTR this month? That doesn't seem at all possible to me- last I heard 2.4 was scheduled "this year on the PTR" - the 3.0 patch isn't going to be nearly ready for months! Webrunner 16:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

I think someone is full of wishful thinking that they will have it on the PTR on december 27, 07.   Zurr  TC 16:08, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I wonder where the date came from, though.. it's unusually specific for something someone just made up Webrunner 17:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Version[]

Does anyone have any official reference that says that the WoWWotLK patch will be numbered 3.0.0 rather than 3.0.1 (which would be similar to the release schedule for BC)? Kidburla 12:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

The version that came on the game discs was 2.0.0 iirc. Kirkburn  talk  contr 15:54, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
According to the Patches article, Patch 2.0.1 "is the patch that comes with the TBC installation CDs/DVD" This would make sense, as it was released more than a month before the actual game, and 2.0.0 would be regarded as an earlier version number than 2.0.1. I think it would be a reasonable assumption that the WoWWotLK patch would be numbered 3.0.1 Kidburla 16:15, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
The official download version is certainly labelled 2.0.0 at least. Kirkburn  talk  contr 19:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Patch 2.0.1 was released about 1,5 month before TBC itself. But when you install TBC, you have the 2.0.0 version. Anyway, if you launch 2.0.1 patch installer then, it is written you already have it, and when you launch "2.0.1 to 2.0.3" patch installer, it is installed properly and everything is OK, despite the fact you upgrade WoW from 2.0.0, not 2.0.1. Pitipl (talk) 15:19, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Beta[]

Is the beta actually ongoing then from today or is it going to be starting next patch day? RealmS (talk) 10:13, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

It has started, but only alpha testers can get in at the moment. Kirkburn  talk  contr 10:32, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, can't be long until it starts though I guess, as in the public beta. RealmS (talk) 10:38, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Build 8820[]

Under the patch notes listed, isn't the current level cap now Level 80? Frostworn1822 (talk) 05:56, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Be bold. If you see something wrong, change it. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 07:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Pre-Woltk content patch[]

I did create a new patch with 3.0.0 which was reverted, as people see the 3.0.1 patch number as the pre-Launch content patch.

If this patch is, what it is, then:

  • the level cap won't be highered to level 80
  • the death knight won't be available.
  • northrend won't be available for game-play (as ghostland can't be accessed with vanilla WoW).

Thus i would suggest tearing the 3.0.1 patch page apart in a pre-content patch and a WotLK final patch. Essmene (talk) 15:39, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

We don't have any offical version numbers yet (except what we can see in beta). No need to be hasty. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 15:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
The offical version number is Patch 3.0.2 so as things stand right now, it looks like we'll be going from 2.4.3 to 3.0.2 to 3.0.1. Isn't Blizz great? --k_d3 00:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
If the pre-content page is up it should also be noted that the ZA bear mount is no longer available. Essmene (talk) 00:11, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Do we have confirmation on this, or is it still just speculation? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 03:55, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
On the patch itself? http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9236466265&sid=1 < ---- That's probably where they're hearing it. I hope it comes out soon, I'm sick of my current hair. --Super Bhaal (talk) 09:46, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Pre-patch sources:

  • Estimated retail release: Q4 2008.
  • New continent; Northrend.
  • Level cap increased to 80.
  • New profession; Inscription.
  • Introduction of Death Knight, Hero class.
  • Lots of PvP additions; such as Siege weapons.
  • ZA bear mount removed
  • Stormwind harbor
  • new Arenas added / Arena season 5
  • Interface changes (token / Pet interface, Calendar interface)

3.0.2 is 3.0.1 ?[]

See FAQ 3.0.1 Frequent Asked Questions Essmene (talk) 19:31, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes and no. We'll find out for sure when things get closer to release. /points at his last comment in the previous section. --k_d3 19:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering if anyone was planning to update this Wiki with the planned 3.02 Class Changes?

The link is: http://www.worldofraids.com/news/292.html

Thanks in advance and excellent job all :)

Mordonus (talk) 16:30, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Patch 3.0.2 is our copy of the patch notes themselves. If you want to add the confirmed class changes and not just datamined info, you're more than welcome to do so on the class pages. --k_d3 16:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Patch 3.0.1 will probably incorporate most of the class changes in it. --WoWWiki-Dga (talk) 19:44, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Patch 3.0.1[]

Redirects to here.

I am currently downloading the 3.0.1 patch now via Blizzard background downloader.

Thus, I am going to say (in advance of it being live) that 2.4.3 will be followed by 3.0.1 (probably this Tuesday). Which will be followed by maybe 3.0.2.

I am not sure how to edit the redirect to make the site parallel the patch progress of the game so I made this note. --WoWWiki-Dga (talk) 19:43, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Only problem is the PTR is called "0.0.2". So at some point we're going to have to move this page and move Patch 3.0.2 (PTR) here. --k_d3 17:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Since I'm downloading 3.0.2 right now, I'm guessing 3.0.1. is the bridging patch between BC and WTLK. This would make sense since 3.0.1 looks to me like a BIG client update (since there are new updates to the game engine and such) and 3.0.2 is the content update. (Omega2010 (talk) 00:40, 15 October 2008 (UTC))

PTR is up[]

But there is no announcement on the main page, nor a new patch page. I've listed a patch notes list a few comments above. Essmene (talk) 19:11, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

See Patch 3.0.2 (PTR). g0urra[T҂C] 19:13, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
well - we won't go 2.4.3 -> 3.0.2 -- It will be 2.4.3 -> 3.0.2 (PTR) -> 3.0.2 -- and the current naming is a bit bogus. We won't get level 80 nor death knights when the next content patch hits, but all class changes / inscription / .... I did try to correct the patch order, but somebody reverted it. I don't really get it. Essmene (talk) 02:09, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure we don't include PTRs in the patch order. Not only is a PTR a given for pretty much every patch, but by definition the PTR patch never actually exists on the live servers. Also, 3.0.2 DOES include Northrend, level 80, and death knights. You just can't access any of them without Wrath of the Lich King installed. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 05:59, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Event?[]

As far as I can see, theres no big events yet? At least not anounced here? Like Lich King pwning everyone or something.. Like opening of dark portal? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ofel (talk · contr).

There probably will, but we're yet to see. The servers aren't even up yet. g0urra[T҂C] 14:47, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't think the Dark Portal event started until a week or two before Burning Crusade was released, so you might have to wait until November. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:33, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree. It does say you will have to purchase the expansion before you actually get to do all the cool stuff. As I was not playing yet at the time of the Burning Crusade release, I am not sure though. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 06:25, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Realms gone[]

Well this is crap. Half of the realms just.. aren't there! Anyone else pissed at that? --Blasterman (talk) 23:53, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

If they are or aren't, this is not a place to talk about it. Kirkburn  talk  contr 23:55, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Official Patch Notes oopses[]

Downloaded the offical patch while the realms were down, and the patch notes for druids showed a goof... had both Protector of the Pack and Mother Bear listed as new talents, with otherwise identical notes. --Azaram (talk) 02:33, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

The official patch notes fail to mention the addition of the Org and Dal arenas. Has anybody been able to access them in game?FConrad (talk) 03:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)FConrad

"Two new Arenas have been added; the Orgrimmar Arena and the Dalaran Arena can now be accessed." g0urra[T҂C] 08:56, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Right, except that section is ommitted in the WoW website patch notes and the blue post patch notes on the forums. Add this to the fact that they aren't accessible. The section quoted above should probably be removed for accuracy. FConrad (talk) 21:12, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Blood Elf Racials[]

I was playing my B'elf yesterday and I noticed that Mana Tap is gone. That and Arcane Torrent restores 6% man a regardless, along with the silence effect. I created another one and the old Thirst Unending quest was replaced with a new one where all you have to do is pick a Mana Wyrm and Arcane Torent them. Meneldir (talk) 15:21, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Thats a known change, seems bliz didn't put it in the notes though, so you can add it to Patch 3.0.2 (undocumented changes). User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 18:16, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
A link to that page on the main Patch Notes page would be useful.Phlucious (talk) 17:30, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Such as the one in bold in the related links box? :D --Azaram (talk) 01:29, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

3.0.2 Macro Changes[]

Many Macros don't work anymore and there isn't any good source of the changes for the common user. We need a wiki page for each class with new 3.0.2 working Macros. --Omikayaan (talk) 06:07, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Lock and overloaded?[]

"New Talent - Lock and Load (Survival): You have a 33/66/100% chance when you trap a target and a 10/20/30% chance when you sting a target to cause your next 3 Arcane Shot or Explosive Shot spells to trigger no cooldown, cost no mana and consume no ammo. " But the Ability hunter lockandload [Lock and Load] page says two... Which is correct? --Azaram (talk) 05:16, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

It is two shots, but the way the talent is listed on the Lock and Load article is incorrect. Thanks for drawing me to that - I'm going to fix it right now. Rilgon (talk) 14:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
