Female satyr

Minor deal : are there any ingame female Satyr models ? Could someone take a screenshot if yes ? And if not, how do they breed ? Do they kidnap female Night Elves ?--Kirochi 16:53, 26 May 2006 (EDT)

Did you ever consider the Harpys? Charred But Alive 09:08, 23 June 2006 (EDT)

Don't make me look more stupid than I do. It's not because Harpies behave that way that we have any hint it's the same thing for Satyrs. You could say the same for Ogres, Gnolls, Furbolgs, Mok'Nathal and Murlocs.--Kirochi 11:00, 23 June 2006 (EDT)

What I meant was that the Harpys are supposedly descended from the Kaldorei, as is true for Satyrs. Charred But Alive 18:54, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

No, there are no female satyr models in the game. That doesn´t have to mean there aren´t any female satyr in the world, just that they don´t have models in the game. Harpies, which are a different species of humanoids, are always female. Male harpies do not exist. Varghedin 22:50, 3 July 2006 (EDT)

There's one female Satyr in the game ^^ Cavindra outside Mara! - --Angellic 20:43, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

Uses a dryad model, it seems ( -- Kirkburn 21:36, 7 August 2006 (EDT)

But she's still a satyr.

No she's not. She's clearly a dryad.

Do we actually have real confirmation of her being a satyr, rather than heresay on the comments pages? Neither her quest nor her appearance suggest she has to be a satyr rather than a dryad. Also, put your names to your posts please. -- Kirkburn 12:25, 8 August 2006 (EDT)
Yeah, how do we know she's a satyr ? And, BTW, where can we find these "rare" High Elven Satyrs ?--Kirochi 18:26, 27 August 2006 (EDT)

Preexisting satyrs mateing?--SWM2448 21:09, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't think they mate. I think have to trick others to become satyr. Zarnks 21:11, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Ok.--SWM2448 21:12, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

In the rpg, Staghelm, as I recall, has a dream in which he sees his lover turn into a female satyr, and tries to seduce him. Also nothing says that satyrs can't mate, they probably can, but they can also corrupt others into satyrs as well.Baggins 05:25, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Staghelm's crazy I don't trust him. Zarnks 20:08, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Who does? He likely stabbed Malfurion in the back... Anycase I went back and checked the dream/vision, not sure who it was from either staghelm or malfurion.Baggins 07:14, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm gonna say female satyr don't exist because there are no specified mentions of female satyr which even ogre females have gotten, demon's don't ussally breed. Satyrs in myths are only male. Finally this line shows that satyrs do not breed "All satyrs have been transformed into their current shapes by inheriting the demonic curse that originated with Xavius.". This shows that no satyrs are born. Zarnks 02:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I made one too, check further down this page. Xavius, the Satyr Lord (talk) 19:41, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Whether satyrs breed or not, I think that they would have the parts required anyway. They may be able "do it" but perhaps they just don't reproduce, so female satyrs wouldn't really matter even if they did exist. --Arbaril 15:57, November 11 2008

Orc satyr

The page mentions Orc satyr but wouldn't an orc satyr be a fel orc? Zarnks 04:30, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Nah, a satyr is a satyr (i.e. goat men). Although a orc satyr is probably even more mutated than fel orcs.Baggins 16:59, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

This sentence barely means 'orcs have joined the army the satyrs belong to, meaning the Burning Legion'.--K ) (talk) 17:26, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

So would a orc satyr be the same as a fel orc aside from appearance and perhaps abilities? I always thought of fel orcs as the orcish equivelent to satyrs in that they both are corrupted versions of a race but not completly demonic yet. Zarnks 20:28, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Well I don't about abilities, and don't pay much attention to rpg statistical information/rules, but satyr and fel orcs each got their own articles and seperate stats in the Monster Guide, and are treated as seperate entities. Although it did treat satyrs are completely demonic (last stages of corruption essentially), and fel orcs as still humanoid but corrupted. Actually come to think of it that's pretty much how they are treated in-game as well. Satyrs are usually always marked with the demonic type, and fel orcs are usually always humanoids. Ok, apparently satyrs are immortal as well and fel orcs aren't. Edit:Sorry about the multiple edits but I thought the info might be interesting.Baggins

I've always figured that Satyrs were a form of intended mutation because despite the fact that Satyr originated from Night Elves, the Night Elven Demon Hunters look more like Nethrezim.Bloodtom

So orc satyrs would just be further corrupted fel orcs complete with hooves. Zarnks 21:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Not necessarily depends on how the mutation occurs for satyrs. Satyrs tend to be more furry than fel orcs, have goat like horns, don't have back or arm spikes etc.Baggins 05:27, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Satyr's Demise

I was under the impression for some time that either all the satyrs died during the Sundering or were thrown back into the twisting nether by Furion. I doubt there were many to begin with and is it possible for demons to breed? Aren't they all spawned? --TheOneCalledRed - February 26,2007

A) "back into the Twisting Nether"? most of them were never there to begin with. 2) The number of satyrs depends on the number of transformed Highbourne; approximatly half the Quel'dorei magic users were transmogrified. Zed) Spawned from what? besides, Satyrs aren't truely demons, and it's logical to assume that they reproduce via gamete meiosis (like night elves). --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 23:28, 26 February 2007 (EST)

I meant "back into the Twisting Nether" because the Satyrs were servants of the Legion and it would only make sense that they perished along with them. I also doubt half of the Highbourne were transformed, I'd guess like two dozen, most like Dath'Remar couldn't bear being turned into one of those creatures, no matter the "rewards". As for the spawning I was just hinting because how else can they reproduce without any females that I know of. (Not that I really care anyways.) =)--TheOneCalledRed February 27,2007

<shrug> We didn't see female Tauren, dwarves, gnomes or eredar until WoW. Not half the Highborne, half the spellcasters among them. There are references to a large number with Xavius himself, and a good deal more working on the spell matrixes in Zin-Azshari. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 10:42, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Alot of new Satyrs have been created in last 5-20 (maybe even more) years as well, from other races other than night elves and high elves, according to lore in the RPG. High elven satyr apparently appeared in Quel'thalas over the years as well.Baggins 23:20, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Concept Art picture on infobox?

First post here and sorry if the topic of infobox picture has already happened but I have been wondering why the Satyr page uses an ingame image (though I gotta say this ones much better than the previous version) instead of a Blizzard-made concept art image like some other race pages (such as the Quilboar) do. I realise Satyr don't have much of those pictures but the cover of Lands of Mystery has such an image of a Satyr and a bigger version of the same image in Samwise's gallery. Just curious :) --Neakal 01:27, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

That picture was taken from the RPG books...not in-game. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 01:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Another reason is because whenever we decide on an infobox picture, certain people disagree. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 01:58, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Ok. thanks for clearing.--Neakal 12:25, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Satyr Origins

After reading the novel War of the Ancients, it looks like Xavius wasn't the first Satyr ever. They said Xavius had turned into a Satyr like those creatures in legend. Rolandius (talk) 05:25, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Xavius was definetly the first its confirmed in 2008's Dark Factions. The difference here is that Satyr existed only in legend previously, not in any reality.Baggins (talk) 00:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
If they existed in legend only, how did Malfurion know Xavius looked like a Satyr when he first saw him?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 02:05, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
If you saw a dragon today, how would you recognize it? It's just a legend. -_Ragestorm (talk · contr) 02:21, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
From pictures.LOL Unless thier legends were not just words and had pictures then I guess they could recognize Xavius as a Satyr.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 02:24, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm certain they had a writing system. Even if they didn't, oral traditions usually contain descriptions of the creatures they describe.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 02:44, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Well I know they had a writing system, but I meant pictures too. Like you said oral traditions have descriptions anyways.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 02:53, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Is santa real? Have you really seen him... Do you know what he looks like? Every race have legends, and they all have descriptions or arwork for their religons.Baggins (talk) 03:17, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok so your saying that the legend of the Night Elven satyrs somehow matched Xavius the Satyr exactly, but that is ok because it was just a legend and not real? Like Tyrnade told Illidan when he told her that the story of the night elven city destroyed was just a legend, "Oh so that huge crater is a legend too?"  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 03:24, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

If you want to scare your enemy you create a monster like their biggest nightmares... I'm pretty sure I've seen thsi story replayed over in both history, legends, novels and movies... ...alternative if you want them to worship you appear as their spiritual beliefs... You have sene STar Trek V, or perhaps read Rise of the Horde?Baggins (talk) 03:27, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok for that to occur, Sargeras has to have known all about the night elven legends.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 03:43, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
Who says he didn't...? There were more than enough indviduals that could have fed him that kinda info. In anycase please explain to me how this even fits into an editorial discussion, and not just some random discussion?Baggins (talk) 04:52, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Satyr where boogiemen, stories told to night elf children to keep them in line. Sargeras probably learned this from Xavius' memories as he rended and tortured his soul after his first death. So he chose to remake Xavius in this immage, and charged him with making more. Turning night elves into the very thing they feared so much when they were young, making their nightmares reality. That being said, this is a discussion for a forum and not a talk page.Tweak the Whacked (talk) 05:11, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't think that Sargeras knew any of Elven legends. Also Archimonde defined Xavius "a satyr, one of the more loyal races to Sargeras"(translated from italian by me,many english errors :P),so he is the first of the satyrs on Azeroth, but not the first of the legion.Malygos Helper (talk) 21:28, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

arent some satyrs independent? DF states that not all are members of some bigger faction, and there were independent satyrs in WC3 (or i think there is...) so should it be added to infobox?Kesmana (talk) 14:41, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Independent but mainly legion aligned. If the legion calls they will answer, but work independently most of the time. They will work within other groups if it will benefit the legion in some way.Baggins (talk) 03:15, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Under the Names section, shouldn't it be Male Names, Female Names, and Family Names? The tribes are all listed underneath and I only see named mobs having those name.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 04:48, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Satyr don't have "family names" they use their "tribal names" as surnames, see Dark Factions.Baggins (talk) 05:27, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
So does that mean we can list surnames under tribal names if we find them?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 06:01, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Crystal Satyr

In the model viewer there is a model of what is called a "crystal satyr", a satyr with glowy lights and crystalline growths. What in-game satyr uses this, or is it unused? There is also a crystal dryad, which seems to be related. Inv misc orb 04.pngXavius, the Satyr Lord 20:21, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Saw the "crystal dryad" in Crystalsong, so it would be logical to assume that the satyr is there too, somewhere. Confirmation? Inv misc orb 04.pngXavius, the Satyr Lord 22:11, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, spotted a few crystal satyrs in Crystalsong while taking the FP over it. "Unbound Corruptors" Does anyone have information on whether they were always present or are a recent development? Sarm3 (talk) 23:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Satyrs work always in sects?

Couldn't we say that there are a few exceptions? Look at Illhoof in Kara... there are some rare exceptions. should we write that? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Malygos Helper (talk · contr).

Demon or old gods minions?

I am not sure , as satyr made up by sargeras but the nightmare is old god curruption so im a bit confused by it Thanks on answer ahead (Yuvyuv111 (talk) 06:54, 26 February 2017 (UTC))

They're demons so yeah. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 14:16, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Xavius too? --Mordecay (talk) 14:39, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
I imagine Xavius is exempt from this rule as his corruption was seemingly cleansed at the end of the Emerald Nightmare raid. I would assume at least, as he returns to his elven form. PeterWind (talk) 14:42, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
To be honest none of that makes sense anyway. Xavius doesn't have "an elven form". His elven body was utterly destroyed by Sargeras. Then he made him a new Satyr-shaped body particle by particle, "many of which" belonged to his former body. So there was no "elven form" to return to, Satyr-Xavius' corpse should've just been, well, a Satyr-shaped corpse. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 17:17, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
He seems to be wearing one of these Sha warlock armors from MoP though, that's a fun detail for an old gods follower. Xporc (talk) 17:21, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Yeah they just needed some Nightmare-looking set. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 17:33, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Seeing as his body, at that time, didn't exist outside of the emrald nightmare/dream, normal rules may not apply. As ambiguous as it is, it could just be the powers of Elune or the dream or some such, reverting his form. PeterWind (talk) 18:22, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
Yeah it was cleansing the Nightmare. Nothing saying his body couldn't exist outside of the Nightmare however, it just happened that he was dwelling within the Rift of Aln spreading the Nightmare from there or something. -- MyMindWontQuiet (talk) 19:31, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
