Northrend Yeti

Moved from Northrend yeti.

Would someone like to cite this source with actual evidence? Quest text, model names etc? If not it will be deleted.Baggins (talk) 00:49, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Delete it, the model is actually called Yeti... whereas previous yetis were using the wendigo model. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 03:02, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
A [71] The Yeti Next Door calls them giant yeti, H [71] Making the Horn also calls them giant yeti, but thats 2 out of 4-5 quests that involve them. The other quests don't get specific. Giant yeti sounds like a valid description, but I don't think it really diserves another page. That can be discussed on the yeti page.Baggins (talk) 03:41, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

The Art of World of Warcraft

Two concept pieces of two different looking yeti can be found in the artbook. One looks to have the face of a troll or demon and the other has many teeth and lots of hair.{{t|Cite}}{{Cite|AoWoW|50-51}}

I removed this from the article as even though the page titles it as Yeti concepts, the notes beside it dictate they weren't even sure what it was... with Wendigo striked out, along with Ice troll and with a ? next to furbolg. List of Yeti/Wendigo Tribes

Can someone post up all the tribes/clans of the yeti race? Thanks. Jlog3000 (talk) 15:02, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

5 named ones... there ya go. As for the yeti of Hillsbrad (Cave and Ferocious Yeti) and Alterac (Mountain and Giant Yeti) they are unnamed groups and there's currently a discussion as to how to give them an article, please voice your opinion at Forum:Organization naming. Thanks for the tip, Coob. Cuase it's hard to search each mob by race classifications, except most beasts by families of that species type, such as wolves, birds of prey, boars, spiders, etc. Jlog3000 (talk) 21:50, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Different race than wendigo and sasquatch?

Why do we have a seperate page for wendigo and yeti? They are noted in lore to be cousins, and share the same two in-game models in WoW. The sasquatch made its first appearance since Warcraft 3 with Cataclysm, also noted as a cousin of the wendigo. Surely these are subspecies that should be combined into one less confusing page. Any objections?--Weasel (talk) 13:05, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Cousins does not mean the same creature. All three were given their own RPG info, so each have their own page. And just because Bliz wants to make it simple and use but 1 model (2 since Wrath) doesn't mean they'll all the same and should have their articles merged. In Warcraft III and the Warcraft RPG, Sasquatches live in temperate climates, while Wendigo live in Northrend. Very clear-cut. Yetis do not exist yet. In World of Warcraft and the World of Warcraft RPG (in Monster Guide), Wendigo live in Dun Morogh, and Yetis (adapted for much colder climates) live in Alterac Mountains, Feralas, Hillsbrad Foothills, and Winterspring. The Wrath of the Lich King Bestiary also says that Wendigo live in Northrend, as well as in Dun Morogh. Sasquatches do not appear. Now, in Cataclysm, we have Bigfist, bringing Sasquatches back. I have no idea what this means for the Feral Scar yetis, but a lot of them were brown from the start, and those that were not brown were grey... that is Sasquatch-ish. The pages could be reorganized a bit.--SWM2448 18:35, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Skin/fur color doesn't seem to matter much either... Yetimus the Yeti Lord, uses the same color as Bigfist, but is a yeti. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:06, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
He is the only Sasquatch that I know of. The brown thing was just wishful speculation on my part.--SWM2448 00:23, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Aye, when it comes to the Wendigo, Yeti and Sasquatch, we'll have to rely on what they're called in quests and when in doubt go by the area in they live in. Cause it's funny... Wendigo are supposed in be in Northrend, they were even in the Bestiary for Wrath... but when you quest, they're all referred to as yeti ... so yea, it gets annoying. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:26, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Note that there are lots of pages that combine very diverse subspecies of a race. Take Wolf for example. While the different terms are used interchangeably in WoW, they are separate but very similar things in the lore - Therefore, it makes sense to have some sort of disambiguation page at the least, or a combined page. I have found this confusing in the past.--Weasel (talk) 06:21, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
The relationship between the things listed on the Wolf page and the Wendigo-Sasquatch-Yeti relationship may not be quite the same, but the three types of... whatever the greater type is here... can be linked to each other better if it helps.--SWM2448 06:32, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
I will accept a "Not to be confused with the yeti's cousins, the wendigo and sasquatch". :)--Weasel (talk) 06:43, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
You can add that if you want. Though Yetis and Sasquatches seem to disagree whether or not the other one exists.--SWM2448 06:45, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeti Tribes?

Are there ever been used the term "tribe" when referencing to groups of yetis in warcraft?--Ashbear160 (talk) 18:54, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

The RPG, and although non-canon, I believe it still applies to this. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 01:55, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I've checked all quest i could see linked to these "tribes" and everytime they used the term "group", so unless anyone can provide me sources calling them tribes(outside of the RPG), I'm going to change it to groups like the quests say.
Tribe is more of a sapient thing, anyway...--Ashbear160 (talk) 14:04, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Well... the yetis of Northrend (at least) are sapient, even capable of speech. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 15:08, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
They are? can you provide a example? I'm still changing if anybody can't find a canon term for groups of yeti besides group of yeti.--Ashbear160 (talk) 17:23, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Frostgore.Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 18:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Should i put them in the sapient species template?--Ashbear160 (talk) 21:45, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Nah, doesn't seem the race as a whole is sapient, just some. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 22:46, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes, but the same rule applies to the Bog beasts and i added them to the template--Ashbear160 (talk) 22:54, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
So? Just because something matches with criteria that you made up... wait, what?--SWM2448 23:12, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
The criteria is; if it can talk like a sapient being it goes on the template of sapient beings.--Ashbear160 (talk) 23:41, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
So, if one of a thing talks, it goes on the templates? What about Torta, Tooga, and Raze? Okay, two turtles, but still.--SWM2448 00:20, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I guess that makes little sense i'll remove bog beasts then, i guess in warcraft there are talking things that don't apply to the whol species.--Ashbear160 (talk) 00:45, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll think of it as a 'maybe'. As for if they group into tribes or not, if a contradictory citation can not be found from in the game (or here, or Wowhead), then I would default to what the RPG classifies them as, because the 'what do we call groups of mobs' debate often sucks and is stupid and is pointless. If it can be found, link it.--SWM2448 01:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Well i checked every link i could find in wowhead and they are always called "Group of Yeti" so it's only contradicted by the RPG which is non-canon--Ashbear160 (talk) 15:54, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
