Taunka'le Village is a taunka village found just southeast of the Geyser Fields in the Borean Tundra. The taunka used the steam from the hot springs to help prepare hides for leatherworking.[1]
During the war against the Lich King, Chieftain Wintergale asked for the help of Horde adventurers in evacuating the village, as he feared the Scourge would attack them soon.[2] A fear that turned out to be real, the village now being in ruins and overrun by the undead from the Temple City of En'kilah.[1]
History[]
Legends[]
Soon after the Alliance and Horde arrived in Northrend, the Anub'ar invaded Taunka'le. The village was defended by Akiak and Trag Highmountain.[3]
Wrath of the Lich King[]
By the time the Horde and Alliance launched the war against the Lich King, the Taunka'le taunka had long been under siege by the Scourge of the Temple City of En'kilah and the necropolis Naxxanar. The leader of the village, Chieftain Wintergale, followed the advice of his advisors Sage Aeire and Durm Icehide, and has Horde adventurers struck at the Scourge commanders of Naxxanar, eventually slaying the San'layn Prince Valanar.[4] Greatmother Taiga also offered missions to deal with Gearmaster Mechazod and his Mechagnome threat.[5]
Despite their best efforts, the war with the Scourge made Taunka'le no longer capable of sustaining the Taunka population. Chieftain Wintergale ordered a complete evacuation of the village to the taunka capital of Icemist Village.[6]
Exploring Azeroth[]
In the aftermath of the war against the Jailer, Taunka'le Village was revealed to be a ruin, a village crawling with leaderless Scourge. One of the refugees, who made their new home in Camp Oneqwah, informed Brann Bronzebeard that the village was a place of too many bad memories, which led Brann to believe that the taunka weren't going to return.[1]
