The template creates a WoW styled tooltip for abilities; you provide the required information through a series of named parameters.

Named parameters

Generic tooltip

Ability-specific

|float= tooltip's float location; left or right (default) |width= tooltip width. Typically 18em. |disambigpage= Wowpedia page for this ability. Not required if this template is used directly on that page.

|name= ability name, as it appears in game. |icon= icon to display; omit File: and file extension (.png); passed to {{icon}}. |class= Class this ability belongs to. |level= Level at which this ability is learned. |spec= Specialization name for specialization-granted abilities. |talent= "yes" if this ability is a talent, omit otherwise. |replaces= The ability that a talent replaces. Don't include brackets. |cost= Numeric cost of this ability. |costunit= Textual unit of the ability's cost ("Mana", "Energy", "Rage" etc) |range= Range of the ability, e.g. "Melee" or a number. |cast= Cast time (provide a number, 0 for instant; also accepts Passive, Next Melee, Channel; use -1 to force just "Instant" and not "Instant cast"). |cooldown Cooldown time (e.g. "30 sec", "2 min") |reagents= Reagents required to use the ability. |desc= ability description (may use spelllink to link to effect if desired). Use <br /> tags to force multiple lines if required. |req= requirement to use the ability (Melee Weapon, Cat Form etc.) |sub= transcludes another ability's tooltip into the current page's tooltip; currently only used for Azerite Essences. |subabove= text that goes above the sub-ability. |sub2= a second ability to be transcluded. |sub2above= text that goes above the second sub-ability.

• 10% of base mana
• Channeled
• The Voidwalker consumes nearby shadows to bolster its form, recovering 30% health and mana over 6 sec and greatly increasing stealth detection to all nearby friendly targets within 30 yards. Cannot be used while in combat.

• Whiplash
• 30 yd range
• 2% of base mana
• 25 sec cooldown
• Instant cast
• Deals (475 + (0.85 * ($SP * 0.5))) shadow damage and instantly knocks back all enemies within 5 yards.

• Jiny'u Cider
• Level 30 monk talent
• 1.5 min cooldown
• Instant cast
• Instantly restores all of your Chi.

• Mortal Strike
• Melee range
• 20 Rage
• Instant cast
• Requires Melee Weapon
• A vicious strike that deals 150% weapon damage plus X and wounds the target, reducing the effectiveness of any healing received by 10% for 10 sec.
