The Bellipotent is an Alliance destroyer belonging to the Northwatch Expeditionary Unit and serving off the western coast of Kalimdor. Under the command of Rear Admiral Hartley, the ship has seen action against both Horde and pirate forces along the Merchant Coast in the Northern Barrens following the Cataclysm.

Following the Cataclysm, the Bellipotent helped to spearhead a resurgent Alliance military and naval campaign in the Northern Barrens, commanded by Rear Admiral Hartley. The vessel notably ousted the pirate forces of Baron Longshore from the Merchant Coast and established a position there near to the neutral goblin town of Ratchet.
Hartley and the Bellipotent also began harassing shipping into Ratchet, seizing the cargo of or sinking any vessel flying Horde colours. Gazlowe, the leader of the port, was severely irritated by this action, and proceeded to secretly enlist the aid of Horde adventurers in sabotaging the Alliance operation. Though Horde forces successfully mined the Bellipotent, with the hope of detonating its munitions supply, Rear Admiral Hartley foresaw such an eventuality, and moved the ammunition ashore. The damage done to the ship by the mining thus did not sink the vessel.
Nevertheless, Horde elements would go on to destroy the weapons stockpile where it was being kept on the shore. Baron Longshore was also liberated by Horde champions from Alliance captivity near the Bellipotent itself in exchange for treasure, though he would attempt to double-cross them.
