Thoradin was a barbarian warlord[3] and the leader of the Arathi tribe of humans. He led them to unify the scattered human tribes into the first great nation of Arathor,[4] founded the capital of Strom, and forged an alliance with the high elves during the Troll Wars.[5] He was a master tactician and strategist who went on to play a critical role in the Troll Wars[3] with his "brothers" Ignaeus and Lordain.[2] He owned the greatsword Strom'kar, the Warbreaker.[3]

After the Troll Wars ended, and seeing Arathor in good hands, Thoradin's attention turned to the origins of humanity. In the Tirisfal Glades he discovered the tomb of the being who had brought the humans to the land they now called home.[2] Thoradin accidentally broke the magic seals that kept Zakajz the Corruptor dead within Tyr's tomb, and died there to keep the creature from escaping. His sword, Stromkar, kept the monster at bay for millennia, keeping it from regenerating fully. Thoradin's spirit would later be tortured by the Twilight's Hammer who sought to awaken Zakajz. A warrior adventurer seeking Stromkar freed him and dealt the killing blow to Zakajz who had slumbered for so long. Thoradin then granted his sword to the hero.[6]

Thoradin ordered to build a great wall near Strom to shield humanity from the Amani incursions.[1]
