The Tideskorn clan[1] are the united vrykul tribes of Stormheim, led by a God-King.[2] They include the Drekirjar, the Bonespeakers and the Valkyra. Both the leaders of the Drekirjar[3] and the Bonespeakers[4] thus have a claim to rule the Tideskorn. If female, the ruler is expected or assumed to be a member of the Valkyra.[5]
Their largest settlement is the city[6] of Hrydshal, home of the dragon-taming Drekirjar.[7][8] Those among the Tideskorn who accepted the fel gift and turned felsworn became known as Felskorn. They remained the same tribe, and shared the same banner.[9]
History[]
Tideskorn Harbor[]
The Tideskorn earned their name the day the mists took their greatest harbor. Since then, no vrykul loyal to Odyn has willingly entered their cursed place.[10] Scorned by the tides that the kvaldir arrived on, Helya's mists consumed their harbor, maddening the people and causing it to be lost to the Helarjar. With this, the jarls of Stormheim were forced to give up the sea.[11] Many of their numbers became Helarjar.[12]
Legion[]
At one point, Skovald and his brothers, Uldgar, Voldgar, and Agnol, killed their father together. Then, they turned on each other. Skovald's blade was the fastest, however, and so he became king.[13][14]
Alternate Gul'dan approached the vrykul king Skovald with a simple proposition: he could join the Legion and receive ultimate power, or he would see his people destroyed. Dreaming of conquest and glory, Skovald took up the Legion's offer and was set to a single crucial task: claiming the [Aegis of Aggramar] from Odyn in the Halls of Valor and deliver it to Gul'dan. Only then could his endless conquest begin.[15]
After becoming Felskorn, Jarl Skovald killed his mother, Queen Bretta, and her Defiant Queensguard at Kingsfall Pass, and became the ruler of all vrykul, the God-King.[14] Odyn would later send assassins to kill Skovald's children - whom he had fed with fel - because of a prophecy he did not want to come true.[16][2]
During the invasion, a raiding party of Tideskorn wielding crafted weapons made from [Lumenstone], led by the vrykul Plunderer Jurval, were attacked by troops of the Order of the Silver Hand who wanted to collect their weapons.[17]
At some point, Gul'dan sent a secret directive to God-King Skovald. In response, Skovald's forces stepped up their attacks. But Skovald was too obsessed with Odyn[18] to reinforce Karazhan,[19] and he died in the Halls of Valor to order champions as he tried to take up the [Aegis of Aggramar]. Many Felskorn would remain unaware of their God-King's demise thus continue to serve the Burning Legion on the Broken Shore.[20]
Sigryn, his daughter, would eventually rise to become God-Queen in turn as was prophesized, but decided to follow in her father's footsteps instead and give in to the fel when she learned that the murder of her family had been orchestrated by the titanic watcher Odyn. However, an order champion stopped her invasion of the Halls of Valor at the Great Mead Hall, where she planned to exact vengeance on the Keeper. She let go of her hatred and became the rightful God-Queen of the Tideskorn after receiving Eyir's blessing.[21]
