- Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 5 class talent (was a level 37 ability).
- Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Re-added. Now learned at level 37 (was 35).
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Removed.
- Patch 6.2.0 (2015-06-23): Switched functionality with [Glyph of Tranquilizing Shot]. Tranquilizing Shot no longer costs Focus but has a 10-second cooldown.
- Hotfix (2015-03-11): Tranquilizing Shot now costs 50 Focus (up from 20 Focus).

- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Range increased from 35 to 40 yards. Focus cost reduced from 35 to 20.

- Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): Has had its cooldown reduced to 6 seconds, down from 15.
- Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Cooldown reduced to 15 seconds (down from 20), and now dispels Enrage and Magic effects.

- Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13): The tooltips for quick Hunter shots have been updated to show them as instant abilities.

- Special ability shots no longer add the ranged weapon speed or take into account ranged weapon haste when determining the actual cooldown. The tooltip and cooldown timers should now properly reflect the actual cooldown.
- Tranquilizing Shot is now properly affected by [Efficiency] and [Hawk Eye] talents.
