History[]
During the Burning Crusade, the Hellfire Ramparts were used by Illidan's fel orcs to launch attacks at Honor Hold and Thrallmar as well as prevent any intruders from entering the Blood Furnace. Following the Fel Horde's defeat, the Naaru directed the Sha'tar to reclaim the citadel and refurbish it into a maximum security prison. When the Burning Crusade was over, the leaders of the Shattered Sun Offensive felt that Kael'thas' loyalists did not deserve amnesty. They were instead deported back into Outland and imprisoned within the enclosed areas of the Ramparts, now known as Hellfire Containment: Secundus.
Hellfire Containment:Secundus was classified as the least secure prison within Hellfire Citadel and only rank-and-file blood elves were imprisoned within. Led by Warden Kovaanos, a particularly bitter and sadistic Draenei guard, the wardens of Hellfire Citadel mistreat and abuse their convicts in their own attempt to administer justice for the crimes Kael'thas commited upon Outland.
In the recent times, the Illidari Resurgence has broken into the compound, overpowered the wardens and are using its defensive position as a staging ground as they prepare to recapture the rest of the fortress. Naturally, the prisoners have all swore allegiance to the Illidari Resurgence and were incorporated into the Dawnrage Legion, the Illidari's ground forces in Hellfire Peninsula. While the fortress is too well-guarded to assualt head on, perhaps an elite team can penetrate its defenses and assassinate its commander...
