I notice you have a number of small edits on Related race ideas. If you're editing a lot of things on one page and want to see how it looks, you may wish to use the "Show preview" button before saving the page to see that. Thanks! --PcjWowpedia admin (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 14:51, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

I confirm. It is considered annoying when a user does 10 edits to the same page in a short span of time. Xporc (talk) 22:54, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

Yeah I'm sorry for the messy edit history, but at any rate I actually finished editing the parts I wanted to do to the Race Ideas page. I won't really be editing anymore unless there is some major update on possible races in alpha gameplay (or if there is some new bard NPC added). Sorry if I caused you any real annoyance I just wished to update the page to the BFA period and was doing something else while editing wowpedia. And I would just ask that you don't change your vote to delete, if I was annoying it shouldn't reflect if a page exists. Mrforesttroll (talk) 17:04, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Now that I had time to cool down I feel sorry for my words, which were unnecessarily harsh. Please understand that I am not trying to bully you, and that I appreciate you adding up new screenshots and stuff. It's just that my admin position is pretty frustrating, so when someone does something out of the norm, even a pretty minor thing, I tend to lash out at them :/ Hope you'll keep working with us. Uploading[]

Hey, whenever you upload an image, be sure to select the most applicable license that would apply to such image and provide a source if possible. In this case, File:Murloc fish-like.jpg, you uploaded the file but didn't include the license and later a source was requested. Thanks for adding the source to the image later on but the file itself was still missing a license. If you forgot to add a license when you uploaded it or don't know what the license would be, just slap the {{No license}} on the file's article and someone will eventually come by and correct it. Here is an example.SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 11:49, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Moves[]

Hiya. I love what you are doing, creating new pages and lists for mobs, but regarding the moves, I think, you should first add the Move template to the page in question and / or start a discussion on talk page because I noticed that once you move a page, you don't correct the links. It is just for a "heads-up" about what's coming or maybe even suggestions. I remember the psyfiend page which you moved but did not change links, and it would have slipped me, and probably others, unless xporc wouldn't add cleanup tag to it. And now it happened with the eye of Kilrogg page, unless you intend to go through the links? :P --Mordecay (talk) 17:25, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Unless I should change the links from userpages I think I changed all the ones I needed to change for Spell shadow evileye [Eye of Kilrogg]. Mrforesttroll (talk) 17:59, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Pictures[]

Hello. Why are you always uploading so small pictures? For stuff like File:Totem harnesses Valley of Wisdom.jpg there's no need to be this small. Xporc (talk) 11:33, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

Hey man, just so you know, it'd be greatly appreciated if you could start uploading better pictures instead of small youtube screenshots. At some point we may end up removing your rights to upload pics, like we did with Shammiesgun, and it'd be silly :/ Xporc (talk) 15:04, 8 September 2018 (UTC)

Merges and skellies[]

Okay man, you need to slow down with the merges. Most of your contributions right now fall under my definition of vandalism. Xporc (talk) 11:49, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Could this be put to a vote, maybe? --Mordecay (talk) 12:02, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

Animated gold[]

Hey what do you call Animated Gold ? -- MyMindWontQuiet 12:53, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

https://www.wowhead.com/npc=135406/animated-gold - golden ooze adds for The Golden Serpent in Kings' Rest - https://imgur.com/gallery/Vzia39R. Mrforesttroll (talk) 13:37, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Alright. Well, we don't add every single recolor of an ooze (or any other mob) a "new creature", nor give them an icon each. If next expansion they add a pink recolor to bears, pink bears won't count as a new creature, they're just bears. As for "Blood Simulacrum", that's just a bloody clone of the caster, like Spell magic lesserinvisibilty [Mirror Image]. -- MyMindWontQuiet 14:02, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

File moved[]

Not sure what happened with the file when it was moved, some people speculate that it was consumed by the void. Feel free to reupload it to the new name. (also as a side note, BlizzCon... not Blizzcon) — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 16:33, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

Sira & Delaryn[]

Hey man, thanks for updating the page, but if you're okay with that I temporarily reverted your changes because 8.1 is still far away from us and there is no point putting such information in the infobox while don't even have a paragraph explaining what happened yet. In a few weeks then we can revert my change and get yours back, okay? Xporc (talk) 07:12, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Okay. Mrforesttroll (talk) 07:21, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
How about hiding the pic like it is done with the intro? I don't really like having a pic hanging in void (+ you removed the Azsuna pic as well) --Mordecay (talk) 15:35, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Content on Gamepedia[]

Hi, I'm not sure if you know but Wowpedia is not the only wiki in the Gamepedia network. Pages like Heroes of the Storm trailers would be better on their respective wikis rather than Wowpedia, in this case the Heroes Wiki. -- MyMindWontQuiet 20:59, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

But since they depict Warcraft characters and stuff they are fine here as well. --Mordecay (talk) 21:03, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
From my understanding this is what this vote is about, yes I know the two other major sites, as well as stuff such as Tauren Marine. Mrforesttroll (talk) 21:06, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
Then just provide the video in a video section on the Warcraft character's article. No need to provide a full list of them all when they can be provided on the Heroes of the Storm wiki in a ==Warcraft== section. Besides that, the title is misleading. "Heroes of the Storm trailers", okay, where is the rest? "Heroes of the Storm Warcraft trailers", okay just the Warcraft trailers.
@Mrforesttroll, the Tauren Marine is very much okay especially since it is a Tauren in a StarCraft universe. If it was Diablo in the StarCraft universe, then no (even if it was an April Fools). — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 21:09, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
There's no need to have a page about HotS trailers on Wowpedia, that's for the HotSpedia. But it's fine to have pics of these characters or skins in galleries, much like how Chromie has Chronormu#Videos or how Cho'gall#Galleries has his model and skins from Heroes of the Storm. -- MyMindWontQuiet 21:50, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Section headings[]

Regarding this edit, the manual of style says the following: Avoid special characters in headings, such as an ampersand (&), a plus sign (+), curly braces ({}), or square braces ([]). In place of the ampersand, use the word "and" (unless the ampersand is part of a formal name).

Also as a side note, that trivia you included is only a trivia does not contain anything that is a note. It should have been ==Trivia==. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 21:47, 1 November 2018 (UTC)

Confusing the pages[]

Hi there, this was discussed before (on Slack notably), but finally figured out the real issue. You're confusing the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth pages with the patch pages like Patch 8.1. Essentially you are merging the BFA page with all its current and future patches - adding every single new thing from a patch, into the original BFA page. This not only confuses the matter regarding the BFA page itself (it's no longer about the features of that expansion, it also contains info about all the changes from future patches), but also kind of defeats the purpose of having separate pages for the patches, in addition to making the expansion page immensely long. In the future, try to keep patch-related features to the patch's respective page. Will have to trim the BFA page. -- MyMindWontQuiet 11:57, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

I was going by other established pages about WoW expansions (such as World of Warcraft: Legion page having Argus, the patch raids and dungeons).
Shouldn't the Patch 8.0.1 be the expansion release content and the expansion page be featured with all the content with all it's patches? Mrforesttroll (talk) 12:18, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
The only thing we had about Argus before your edits were the raid and the faction, aka the broad outlines, not every single feature and NPC or model that ever appeared.
Patch 8.0.1 is the whole official patch note with every single spell change and everything. -- MyMindWontQuiet 12:22, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

I don't see the issue, patch pages have always been mostly just patch logs dumps. Xporc (talk) 12:40, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

I feel the New creatures sections is a separate topic, the current new creatures section on the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth page currently doesn't include the patch creatures so it's a separate topic form your initial statement. Also I don't think I added more about Argus on the Legion page then the New creatures as reference on your second statement.

I don't fully know which of these features (or others) you mean are a bloat in the Features section of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth: 2 future alled races, 2 future zones, future 2nd Warfornt and future Heroic difficulty, more islands in two different patches, future arena, Heritage armor for standard races, Night Warror customization or Model updates for worgen and goblins in patch 8.2.5.

Also the patch pages you say some of these should be for also should include the whole official patch notes when they are available with every single spell change and everything, and will be just like the Patch 8.0.1 page. Mrforesttroll (talk) 12:59, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

I think most of the things you mentioned are fine because they are the main features of the expansion (zones, raids, warfronts..), though it's possible some should get their own section. It was mainly referring to the creatures (specially some of them wouldn't be actually considered "new"..), but also things like Golden Eyes or Night Warrior eyes, that's something minor that didn't even come with the expansion and is usually kept for the patch pages ; similarly there's no need to keep a patch changes list of heritage armor on that page, just listing "Heritage armor" with maybe a short description is all that's needed. There's also bloat in other forms, like "The Legion artifacts sendoff took place before the expansion in patch 7.3.5", that's literally listing a 7.3.5 change on the BFA page. And so on. -- MyMindWontQuiet 13:21, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
The "artifacts sendoff" thing isn't mrforestroll's, it's me who put it there back when 7.3.5 and BfA were announced together at BlizzCon 2017. Back then the separation between patch and expansion pack wasn't clear. Xporc (talk) 13:27, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
I removed the few thing in the Features section inluding the new character slots per server thing as that's something minor. Mrforesttroll (talk) 13:55, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Video galleries[]

Yo! Thanks for the idea of doing edits such as those, this is the kind of stuff why I love we have page for cinematics now Xporc (talk) 18:14, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Yea, I would like to say the same thing. Thank you for doing this! — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 19:17, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
War3 cinematics were originally built in 1080p resolutions, but were reduced to be on a disk (Pete Stilwell interview - 10min 28sec - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l9_uMiXogk). Don't know if these are correctly available from ones saying they are 1080p versions on youtube. The current videos that are linked form War3 are bellow 1080p. Old maps[]

Be sure to add |old=1 to the map license like this if it is a old map. Thanks! — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 04:46, 24 January 2019 (UTC) Speaking of older maps, what is the significant difference in this map: File:WorldMap-World-MoP-1.jpg? — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 05:47, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

File:WorldMap-World-MoP.jpg - Isle of Thunder was added in 5.2 so it's shape was changed on the map. Oh and Azuremyst Isles somewhat moved for some reason. Mrforesttroll (talk) 05:54, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! I'll see if I can update the file with a proper size and quality from my collection. (Nice work on helping with the maps!) — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 05:57, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Racial galleries[]

Hey there. Thanks for your enthusiasm, but you got carried away with the galleries on some races, they got wayy too big and often displaying stuff that wasn't really relevant to the race as a whole. I trimmed down several of them but I didn't do a particularly good job at it, I was more in a rush trying to find every gallery you edited. If you think I removed too much or that some of my edits were unfair, we can discuss it, but in the meantime please try to not bloat them with stuff that can be found more easily on other pages, like RTS units Xporc (talk) 12:11, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Overwriting images[]

Yo, please don't override old pictures like File:Zandalari troll Heritage Armor.jpg and the Kul Tiran ones. Upload new ones instead. Xporc (talk) 13:30, 15 March 2019 (UTC)

Maps[]

These maps are not coordinate-safe (coordinate-safe maps are good for {{Coords}}). — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 23:11, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

Moving pages[]

Doing this is far more complicated. Before moving a page the links linking to it just be updated properly. In the case of Tol Dagor, all links pointing to the dungeon should be updated while the ones pointing to the lore of the island or the overworld area should be right.
Here's a page that lets you see which pages are linked to Tol Dagor.

Hearthstone artwork[]

When uploading images like File:Vessina (minion).jpg or File:Jumbo Imp HS.jpg, please remember to include a link to the image source and the name of the artist. Ideally, the file description should follow the format of images like File:Nozari HS.jpg. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 16:50, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

RE: Maps[]

The maps should follow the nameing in the game files to keep track on what maps are missing or not. Thanks! — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 00:34, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

The VZ file names are suppose to be redirects. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 01:13, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
I was thinking to upload them there and then you would move them to an appropriate name so leaving a redirect. Mrforesttroll (talk) 01:19, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
Yea, that checked out. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 03:19, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Recent Archaelogy icons[]

Why do all these icons appear with a white background? They don't have a white background in the game files. Surafbrov (talk) 22:56, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

I cropped them with Microsoft Paint. I don't care about transparent backgrounds, I uploaded them in png so if someone else is bothered they can do it. Mrforesttroll (talk) 23:02, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
The white background doesn't help make things feel appealing, especially for a wiki using the dark theme skin as the default. If the white background was all that we got, then it is fine but since the icons are already available with transparency then those are preferred. Surafbrov (talk) 23:07, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
  • if i may butt in for a sec—if you need to crop things that have transparency, you might try downloading a free image editing program. personally i’m pretty fond of Paint.Net. it doesn’t have as many editing tools as, say, GIMP, but it can usually get the job done and is easy to use —Eithris (talk) 16:02, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Images[]

heya, i just wanted to say thanks for your work uploading/updating/adding info to so many images ^^ Eithris (talk) 18:19, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

I'd suggest a website I found realty useful https://www.duplichecker.com/reverse-image-search.php from fining images that are small or only partial, alongside Google there are 4 other useful websites that show different image search results (and 1 that shows no results). Some results in finding images I otherwise couldn't find was putting in a scaled down image or using a crop of a image I was looking for to compare to find a image that was larger or without logos and text. Mrforesttroll (talk) 18:43, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
i’ll keep that in mind! i’ve been using Tineye, but it doesn’t always come up with anything. being able to search multiple sites at once sounds really useful Eithris (talk) 19:01, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
Indeed, good work. One small thing, however, it's "summary" not "summery" :D --HordeRace bloodelf male Mordecay (talk) 18:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

Concept art[]

When uploading concept art, be sure to correctly mark them under the correct game. E.g. File:Druid of the Claw WC3 concept art 2.jpg is a Warcraft III concept art, so you should add wc3 to the Concept art template like so. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 20:23, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Delete template[]

Just FYI, you would use {{Delete}} if a discussion is needed about deleting a file or article, else just default to {{Speedydelete|<reason why>}}. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 19:25, 9 April 2021 (UTC)

Sudden merges[]

Hey, it'd be great if you could start discussions before just making sweeping merges like this. The vote made for the Maldraxxi discussion doesn't make it "open season" for anything that is just somewhat similar. Start a discussion or a vote, and then we can see. PeterWind (talk) 14:21, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Concept art[]

Even if models were used in a prior patch before the next expansion doesn't mean it is also concept art for the previous expansion. It is kinda like a situation where there is concept art for moose which was a creature introduced with Legion, even tho Grove Warden was added as a thing with 6.2. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 02:01, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

Advice gallery update[]

Hello Mrforesttroll, sorry to bother, I wanted to say that the work you provide to update the gallery on different pages is really cool, especially when it's about the TGC's part! On this subject, I tried to make an update in the same style for the Order of the Silver Hand's page, and I found some images, but it is quite thin, especially for the TCG part where I just found one... How and where do you manage to find so many images/TCG illustration? If you could advise me, it would be very useful for me to help update some pages (I specify that I am not English / American, this is the reason for my difficulties in finding reliable sources). I thank you in advance for your answer! WardsJames (talk) 12:54, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

http://wow.tcgbrowser.com/ - this is the main website I use to find TCG cards, and artist names for specific cards. When it comes to the art of the cards some of the ways to find them: 1. searching Google for the card artist to see if they have a website where they show of some of their art, 2. http://wow.blizzgame.ru/gallery/ - Russian / English website has art for many cards, has tags for artists and subject matter (although there are pieces of art on the website that aren't tagged), 3. change the card number on this link - http://wow.tcgbrowser.com/proxy.php?hd=1&cardid=3663 - number is found by clicking on a card to see the number on - http://wow.tcgbrowser.com/ (the number shows in the website link) and crop the image from the card if it's of good quality (most are). There is also https://www.duplichecker.com/reverse-image-search.php to see if there could be a better version of a image on some website, but that has very mixed results. If you don't have luck finding art for a specific card feel free to give me the name of the card to see If I can have better luck. Mrforesttroll (talk) 15:15, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Here's an alternative for the third option, here type the card name with the underscore _ and without the apostrophe ' if a card has one, (the_storm_kings_vengeance) or search for one word and go through the results. --HordeRace bloodelf male Mordecay (talk) 15:33, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Found a solution to these images not updated on HearthstoneJSON using https://github.com/Perfare/AssetStudio and loading the Data folder inside the Hearthstone folder and looking for the images. Mrforesttroll (talk) 01:42, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
https://hearthstone.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Main_Page/Mercenaries/Mercenaries - check this (when needed also it's history) for Hearthstone Mercenaries. Mrforesttroll (talk) 23:59, 12 June 2022 (UTC)

Image layouts[]

You're placing the image layouts out of order. The Source section is typically above Licensing section. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 02:06, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind for any future images. Mrforesttroll (talk) 02:20, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Delete templates[]

Again, you're using the wrong template for these such cases. {{Delete}} is if a discussion is needed; else just use {{Sd}}. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 20:05, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

Duplicate Sons of the Storm images[]

Hey, for the Lothar1.jpg example, the "WarCraft Samwise070b.jpg" is a duplicate and instead should be marked as such while bringing over relevant content like the category Sons of the Storm images to the better image (in this case Lothar1.jpg). The only time when a "duplicate" image should be kept is when it isn't exactly a duplicate. Like File:Playable Orcs Alternate.jpg vs File:Playable Orcs.jpg.

Other than that, the format for the rest of File:Lothar1.jpg is good. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 22:06, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Hearthstone links[]

Hey, when adding Hearthstone card art, remember to check that your links actually have a target page on the HS wiki (Especially for solo adventure content, because those pages might have things like as card IDs or specifications in parentheses in the title). For example, I changed the link of Caye Stardusk HS.jpg from Caye Stardusk to Caye Stardusk (Book of Heroes 1) so it links to an actual page. Thanks. VGhost01 (talk) 13:06, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

The Root of All Evil[]

I was going to copy the old text to a new page for the old version, but I noticed it's virtually identical to the Cataclysm version. Is there a particular reason we need to reference the original? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:07, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Yes your right I added it to patch changes, Mrforesttroll (talk) 17:43, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Boilerplates[]

Seriously, this shouldn't have been published like this. There are a lot of books already that could easily be used as a boilerplate/template. Consider this a warning. Please use proper formatting and boilerplates next time. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 20:36, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
