Looks broken. Is that the template, or because I'm on the beta skin? -=- IconSmall DrakeAzure Drazisil [t/c] 03:27, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

Mmm, I made the page before the character had reached level 10; before it is shown on Armory, that is why it appeared broken. TherasTaneel (talk) 14:31, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

Your opinion is desired

Hello.

I just wanted to solicit your opinion on whether Instancefooter should replace {{Dungeons}}} or not.

Thanks.

Includes in faction disambiguated quest

Please do not put <onlyinclude> in quests that have a Horde and Alliance version - {{Faction disambiguation}} transcludes the quest pages which means that any <onlyinclude> will break how it looks. I've reverted your changes to Quest:The Master's Plan (Alliance) and Quest:The Master's Plan (Horde). --g0urra[T҂C] 20:24, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

oh, right. Sorry didn't know before now, thanks. TherasTaneel (talk) 20:26, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

New and bold

Why does everyone put 'stub' tags on the new pages they create? For instance Tiki Target is... rather unlikely to need expansion. Why would I prompt someone to help expand it? I'm trying to learn policies and such.

Aramak (talk) 00:39, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Well, most of the new pages these days are about the new contents. Some people leave pages stubbed to ensure the next viewer is advised that the article might lack information.

For the policies look [here]. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and I'll answer them to the best of my ability. Smiley TherasTaneel (talk) 00:48, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Freedom of information on reasons for policies / DNP policy in specific

Hi, found you via Special:Listusers/sysop, I am new here but not new to wikis :)

I would be interested in hearing any feedback admins have to this: Wowpedia_talk:DNP_policy#Reasons_for_policies.3F (figured it's probably not a page that is read/used much so I'm messaging you all, I couldn't find a noticeboard page though I found what looks like a rather out-of-date list of admins hehe) --Kittymew (talk) 14:39, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Would like to interview you

Hi TherasTanell,

I’m continuing my research (on WoWWiki and WoWPedia) this summer and hope to interview several of the core contributors about their experiences. Would you be available for an interview at some point this summer?

I also wanted to share an article of mine about WoWWiki that was recently published; you can find it linked to from my user page (happy to send you pdf, if you like). For the most part it talks about the writing processes of the community and how members work well together because of shared attitudes and beliefs about writing on a wiki. If you have any questions or feedback, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks for considering this. If you're interested in participating, you can contact me here via email <tinyurl [dot] com/5ug7gqq>. Dakhma (talk) 15:35, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Names

"source yes, names previously deemed not in the wiki spirit." Could you direct me to this "already done" discussion? I believe in thorough attribution. If someone provides a fact, you may have cause to return to the source of that fact. Names help that. Same principle holds for pictures. If names were not appropriate for wikis, edits would not be personally identifiable. (And yes, I can name at least one way that could be made practical regarding vandalism.) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:51, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

It was in a discussion when Kirkburn at some point uploading images for Cataclysm or perhaps it was WotLK. He once in the beginning of WoW said to an editor that it was not in the spirit of the wiki to include names. If I eventually find it again I'll post it here, but for now, let's go with thorough attribution, as facts tend to get lost on other websites. Well, and the other qualities you mentioned. TherasTaneel (talk) 21:08, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Apologies. Didn't mean to come at you quite as forcefully as rereading that sounds. Still, I do feel strongly about it. If someone barks, we can chew it over again and see how people feel nowdays. I wonder if the original context might have been along the lines of giving an individual credit for an article? No idea. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:35, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
I seem to recall a similar discussion coming up back when Wikia announced that all images would display the name of the uploader. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 21:42, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
I think that was the idea back then as you say. Hmm, strange, some order must be upheld, how did they keep track of the images in those days? TherasTaneel (talk) 22:28, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
It's always said who uploaded it in the file history; Wikia's change was that image attribution would be automatic on the image everywhere it was displayed. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:32, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
In this case, it's second-order attribution; who uploaded it to wowhead, vs who uploaded it to wowpedia. But yeah, history file has always shown uploader ID. Just not as a required part of the page the image is used on. I've seen a wiki or two that did that kind of attribution. It seemed curiously prominent to me. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:42, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Image name changes

I noticed that you moved File:TagarWow.jpg to File:Tagar Spinebreaker.jpg, and while the name change is good, it broke one of the images at Template:User Server/NYI. Please check what links to the files before you rename them. --g0urra[T҂C] 00:28, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Strange I missed that, sure. TherasTaneel (talk) 00:34, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Archaeology Fragment

Noticed your mass change to various archaeology fragment pages, transcluding Archaeology Fragment. The change you made gives me the willies. I would rest much easier if you made a template holding the particular patch change note, and included it on Archaeology Fragment as well as the individual types. This allows individual new patch changes to be reflected where appropriate rather than simply propagating the whole section out of the "source page". That is, a change to Night Elf Archaeology Fragment wouldn't automatically affect Vykrul Archaeology Fragment. Also, it avoids having section headers included as part of a transclusion.

If you agree but would really prefer I do the change (since it is my own bugaboo), let me know. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:21, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

User:Eirik Ratcatcher/Sandbox shows what I was going on about. With only 6 fragment types, it's probably easier to simply put the patch note in directly. But if the patch change affected a couple dozen (or more) items, a template might be useful. ... but I don't know if it would actually save any work. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:13, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm of the opinion that a change like that should just go on Archaeology Fragment rather than on the individual item pages. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:18, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh...now I don't know, hmm, front page? TherasTaneel (talk) 23:09, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
The note def. belongs on Arch Fragment, but harder to justify it NOT being on the actual item pages IMO. But *shrug*. We've got "note=added" on zillions of pages. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:24, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Darkmoon Card defaultsort

Please note that when you do a {{DEFAULTSORT:}}, it will also be applied to any other category that the item is in. This is why you should sort it only in the Darkmoon Cards category. --g0urra[T҂C] 10:36, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

I know, but I first see why it is a bad idea when you pointed it out. TherasTaneel (talk) 10:39, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Odd behavior

Same problem yes. Maybe try to reload it, then move it?

Solved by reuploading same images as new versions. Strange... TherasTaneel (talk) 20:50, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Adding a new Mirror webpage

Hello,

I want to add a new mirror website on the patch_mirror section but it says I'm not allowed to add external urls when i try to edit the page. What should I do?
