There is always the issue of the mob dying or getting killed before the full completion of a DoT. This is especially bad for and due to the high ramp-up time needed for these DoTs to reach their full potential. Many Crowd Control abilities break if the affected creature takes any damage. Mobs affected by DoTs can become immune to a significant number of CC measures.
Affliction PvE (32/3/6)
Basic rotation for single enemies will be , , , , and again. After the first rotation you have to keep casting which doesn`t require soulshards anymore as the main damage dealer, casting whenever possible in order to reset while keeping and up.
Under 25% HP of the mob, Shadow Bolt is replaced by Drain Soul.
Demonology PvE (0/31/10)
The demonology PvE build.
This build provides high burst damage, high rate of attack, and insane AoE. Single target rotation is + : Felguard + , , , , unless is active (then ), until DoTs/debuffs need need refreshing or cooldowns are up, or the target is under 35% health. When target is sub-35% health, replace with . on cooldown.
Multi-target + : Felguard, , , Felstorm.
Destruction PvE (3/7/31)
The destruction PvE build. This build focuses on max DPS coupled with survivability.
Priority is to keep up, keep , , and on the target while casting and on cooldown. The filler is . Use procs immediately, and use for two-target situations. Use if no other raid members provide the 8% spell damage debuff. Use on cooldown when the target is sub-20%.
