Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals (abbreviated as WWI) were public events organized by Blizzard Entertainment similar to BlizzCons, but which usually took place in other locations in the world other than the United States.

These events effectively stopped after 2008, but similar events have continued such as the World of Warcraft-related events were called "Arena Invitationals" or "World of Warcraft Invitationals".

WWI 2004[]

The 2004 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational was hosted in Seoul, South Korea on January 15, 2004 and ended on January 18, 2004.

WWI 2006[]

The 2006 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational was hosted in Seoul, South Korea on February 3, 2006 and ended on February 5, 2006.

WWI 2007[]

The 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational was announced on March 7, 2007,[4] and was hosted in Seoul, South Korea on May 19, 2007. This event ended on May 20, 2007. Several tournaments were hosted for the games Warcraft III and StarCraft: Brood War. For Brood War, eight players were invited with four of them coming from the international scene and four from South Korea. The most important event during the Convention was the first StarCraft II Trailer and the announcement of Brood War's predecessor. Even with the information's being very scarce, the announce hit like a bomb and resulted in the tournament being widely unrecognized afterward. The Chinese Protoss Legend was originally invited to join the WWI but was eventually replaced by the Taiwanese Zerg SEn due to Visa problems. Even with all foreigners being dominating players during 2007, none could really make a stand against the Koreans, except for SEn, who won a single game against sAviOr.

WWI 2008[]

The 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational was announced on February 11, 2008,[5][6] and was hosted in Paris, France on June 28-29, 2008. Tickets for this event was sold out the day they were available. Over the course of the event, the two big announcements were Diablo III and three iterations of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void.
