When uploading, a licensing tag that best-matches where you sourced your image from is needed. Nearly all screenshots from WoW have a specific option (like NPC, zone, mount, etc...). Unlicensed images are prone to get deleted.
Selecting a licensing tag is easily done when first uploading your image, however, unless you know the actual name of the tag it can be hard to add one later on. The following is a list of the available licensing options:
- Unknown
- {{No license}} — I don't know the license
- Free licenses
- {{GFDL}} — This is licensed under the GFDL
- {{GGPL}} — This is licensed under the GPL
- {{cc-by-nc-sa-3.0}} — This image is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0
- {{Other free}} — This is licensed under another free license
- {{PD}} — This is in the public domain
- {{From Wikimedia}} — I got this from Wikipedia or another Wikimedia project
- {{User-ss}} — This is a personal screenshot taken in one of the Blizzard games
- {{User-image}} — This is a personal image
- {{Fanfic}} — This image contains fan art
- {{Guild-ss}} — This is a guild screenshot taken in the World of Warcraft
- {{Guild-image}} — This is a guild image of the logo, banner, or tabard
- Non-free licenses

- {{Licensing|<Mob>}} — This is a screenshot of a mob
