Yalnu is the final boss of the Everbloom dungeon, fought at the Kirin Tor camp situated at the outskirts of Stormwind City.

Background

Adventure Guide

Ancient and inscrutable, the genesaur Yalnu was drawn to the Kirin Tor outpost in Gorgrond by strange energies radiating from the bluff. For ages the genesaur have battled their eternal foes - the magnaron, the gronn, children of stone - to a stalemate across the world of Draenor. But in these emanations, Yalnu sensed a new world, where his kind could flourish and spread unchecked.

Overview

Yalnu's presence causes an array of living plants to spring up from the earth to attack players. Kirin Tor mages assist the party in defense of Azeroth, using powerful magic to keep both Yalnu and his creations in check, but players must protect them to keep them in the fight.

  • Spell shaman earthquake.png  Colossal Blow — Yalnu rears back and slams the ground, inflicting 76000 to 84000 Physical damage to all enemies in front of him, stunning them for 5 sec. In addition, this effect inflicts 40000 Physical damage to all enemies.
  • Ability druid manatree.png  Font of Life — Yalnu radiates life, periodically creating Swift Sproutlings, Vicious Mandragoras, and Gnarled Ancients nearby.

      • Ability rogue sanguinaryvein.png  Tendon Rip — Swift Sproutlings stab at an enemy, slowing their movement speed by 5% for 6 sec. In addition, this effect inflicts 2500 Physical damage every second and can stack.

      • Ability creature poison 01.png  Noxious Breath — Vicious Mandragoras exhale a cone of noxious gas, inflicting 12000 Nature damage every 1 sec to all enemies in front of it.
    • Gnarled Ancient
      • Spell nature naturetouchdecay.png  Lumbering Swipe — Gnarled Ancients crush all players in front of them, inflicting 35910 to 39690 Physical damage.
  • Ability druid empoweredtouch.png  Genesis — Yalnu creates a field of sproutlings and begins to channel Genesis for 15 sec. When the channel is complete, all sproutlings that were not Trampled grow into Feral Lashers.

This effect stuns the Kirin Tor Battle-Mage and inflicts Nature damage every second until the Entanglement is destroyed. In Heroic and Challenge difficulty, Entanglement can target players.

The Kirin Tor

Lady Baihu and her Kirin Tor Battle-Mages combat Yalnu in an attempt to stop his invasion.

  • Spell fire fireball02.png  Fireball — Hurls a fiery ball that inflicts 31920 to 35280 Fire damage.
  • Spell fire selfdestruct.png  Flamestrike — Calls down a pillar of fire, burning all enemies within the area for 14400 Fire damage every second for 15 sec.
  • Spell frost frostbolt.png  Frostbolt — Launches a bolt of frost at the enemy, inflicting 31920 to 35280 Frost damage and slowing movement speed by 50% for 15 sec.
  • Spell frost ice shards.png  Ice Comet — Calls down a comet of ice that inflicts 104880 to 115920 Frost damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
  • Spell arcane blast.png  Arcane Blast — Blasts the target with energy, inflciting 31920 to 35280 Arcane damage.
  • Spell arcane invocation.png  Arcane Orb — Launches an Arcane Orb forward, inflicting 104880 to 115920 Arcane damage to enemies it passes through.

Strategy

This is probably the single most intense 5-man boss in WoD, and excellent training for dealing with raid mechanics. It is an add-heavy fight with a lot of stuff happening at once.

There are several NPC mages that will be damaging the boss - the party's DPS should primarily concern themselves killing the other bad stuff that appears. Adds include single large trees that should be focused, and groups of small plants that should be AOEd. In addition to the adds, the boss will summon vines to entrap and damage the mages. Kill these as well.

The tank should try to face him away from the mages (toward the portal.) This is tricky, because he will also need to grab adds as they appear. The boss has a stomp attack telegraphed by a very long animation that will deal heavy damage and stun in a line in front of him. The tank should simply strafe left or right to avoid this.

Periodically, the boss will spread flowers and start channeling. Everyone (including the tank, since the boss is frozen in place) must run around and stomp on the flowers, or they will grow into an uncontrollable number of adds.

Healers should be prepared to blow cooldowns - no matter how skillful the tank is, the party will be taking damage. In theory, the NPCs should be healed, too. In practice, if they're being heavily damaged, the fight is already headed to a wipe.
