- Astrid Langstrump is an obvious reference to Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking in english) and Astrid Lindgren who wrote the books she appeared in. Eight-year-old Pippi is unconventional, assertive, and has superhuman strength, being able to lift her horse one-handed without difficulty. Astrid also has a similar appearance to Pippi (red hair and two braids at both sides of her face).
