Forums: Village pump → Dalaran versus Dalaran
(This topic is archived. Please do not edit this page!)

With Legion, there will be an additional location for Dalaran within the game. How do I differentiate between the two in articles? Do I simply link to Dalaran and add its defining zone in parentheses, e.g.: Dalaran (Broken Isles)?

As an example of the problem I face: Ability warrior criticalblock [Dalaran Disc] is sold by Jepetto Joybuzz, but only by the version of him which exists in the Dalaran floating above the Broken Isles - not the Dalaran floating above Crystalsong Forest. --Aliok (talk) 00:01, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm still uncertain how to handle it... since it is an updated current location and not an alternate universe and such. Though its likely we'll just use the same existing articles with notes pointing out legion-only or wotlk-only. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! We can create something similar to how WOD alternate pages used to be, but instead of an entire page, we put it in a section. The other choose would simply be
Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

I'm not sure about it myself. It may come down to a combination of using an existing article page with expansion sections or create a separate page using (Northrend) for the suffix, depending on the circumstances. For Jepetto Joybuzz specifically, it may be useful to consider it as a lore / in-game hybrid article page by placing some generic background on the NPC at the top (he's a toymaker, etc.), with everything else sectioned off into their respective expansion. -- Alayea (talk / contrib) 23:05, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
I think in most cases, a separate section on the page should suffice. If anything needs to be split, we can deal with that on a case-by-case basis. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:06, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
I'm leaving that, then, to a different editor. I have no clue how it should be styled. Aliok (talk) 00:29, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
