House Waycrest[1] is one of four noble houses that rule Kul Tiras. Their seat is the Waycrest Manor, in the region of Drustvar. House Waycrest led the war against the drust when humans first settled Kul Tiras thousands of years ago.[2] Providing most of the nation's ore and some of its toughest warriors, House Waycrest has been a loyal supporter of House Proudmoore's rule for centuries.[3]

History

House Waycrest's history dates back to at least as far back as the war against the drust during the founding of Kul Tiras. With settlers force to abandoned their land due to the drust destroying every settlements they came across. Realising that the battle was going against them, Arom Waycrest ordered several of his men to see if they could find any weaknesses the drust might have. With several results such as wolfsbane and silver, Arom was able to turn the tide. Not even the newly formed Drust constructs could stop them. Arom chased the drust king all the way up a mountain and stabbed the drust king. As he was stabbed Gorak Tul's power was broken and with it his connection to his stone constructs, which shattered.

With this victory, Arom was given the title of Lord and from then on, his family would rule Drustvar.[4]

Millennia later, the drust sought to return from the afterlife. Gorak Tul communed with Meredith Waycrest and in exchange for drust magic, she and her followers would bring the drust back to the realm of the living.[5]

It all started when the Lord Arthur Waycrest, a descendant of Arom, came under a dire illness. His wife, Meredith, would lock herself in their chambers with no words from inside of their Manor. Eventually, Lady Waycrest appeared to calm down the villagers and took control of the army. Meredith began recruiting young girls to to join her cult, the Heartsbane Coven. At night, she would teach them all that she had learned and at morning they would return to their households without saying a word. The cult would spread to others with the men being put under a curse of subjugation. Eventually, the village fell. [6]

At the same time, the daughter of the Lord and Lady, Lucille Waycrest would find herself accused of witchcraft for the happenings at Fletcher's Hollow.[7] With the help of Marshal Everit Reade, Lucille would prove her innocence and reforms the Order of Embers to fight against the Heartsbane Coven.[8] With her friends and allies, she mounted an attack against the Coven and managed to push them back at every turn. After taking down the barrier at Corlain, she and the Order of Embers rush all the way to Waycrest Manor. At the entrance, they were confronted by Meredith who corrupted the Marshal and ran inside the manor. With a said heart, Lucille watched Everit being taken down. She knelled next to him to mourned his loss. With no other option, she and the Order of Embers stormed the Manor.[9][10]

But Lady Waycrest was merely a vessel for Gorak Tul's power, and her death opened the Rupture, the doorway for the drust to enter Azeroth.[11] At the Rupture Gorak Tul was able to raise his people from the dead, but he was slain nonetheless. With his death the Heartsbane Coven was broken and Drustvar was released from Gorak Tul's power.
