The iron army (also known as the iron armies and iron legions)[1] of Keeper Loken[1] was made of the combined forces of the iron dwarves, iron vrykul, iron golems, and iron giants, respectively led by three fearsome generals known as Stormcaller Brundir, Runemaster Molgeim, and Steelbreaker. These commanders constituted the Assembly of Iron.[2]

The fire giants were responsible for the production of more iron soldiers. Fjorn was capable of creating giants of iron known as Stormforged Iron Giants,[3] Volkhan overseen the Iron Crucible where he was seen assembling iron vrykul,[4] and Ignis the Furnace Master once toiled over the Colossal Forge, creating the iron armies that would conquer Azeroth in Yogg-Saron's name.[5] The Forge of Wills can also make iron dwarves.[1]

Despite the defeat of both Loken and Yogg-Saron, there are still many iron troops throughout Northrend. Thorim and Mimiron are looking for a way to "fix" them.[6]

At the time of the third invasion of the Burning Legion, many iron dwarves and iron vrykul have sworn themselves to the Keepers once more, namely Dvalen Ironrune, and defended Ulduar from an attack of the Burning Legion.[7] Ignis the Furnace Master was later brought back by the Keepers to work for them in the forges of Ulduar.[8]
